Best Tune for my BMW 1M

Dear All,

I am new in this Forum, I recently got a 2012 BMW 1M.

I want to start to upgrade its performance by installing some tuning parts such as but not limited to the following : ECU Tune, Sport intake (air filters) , charge pipes, down pipes, mid section exhaust , blow off valves, rear muffler ...etc

I browsed many US and German website tuners for BMW, I was wondering which would be the ECU tune ? ESS, COBB, BMS JB4, Evolve, kelleners motorsport, G-power, Dinan..etc.

All recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks,

Rakony

More tailored and specific for your car and gas you use. You do a few logs and send to them, they will write over the Cobb OTS changes to adapt better for your car. Can't go wrong with them… I'm switching now to PTF.

I think all of you guys should stick with known and widely tested (by a large user base) tunes. COBB is a great example. it's running on countless N54s and the 1M is no exception.

WE carry all tunes though and I'm only a PM away.

It also depends what you do with the car. If your car is a DD then COBB is fine. If its a track car, I am not a fan.

OP, where you live I advise you to go for a good quality intercooler upgrade FIRST and foremost. I do not see that in your list. This is especially relevant if you are tuning the engine but you should do that at certain point even if you were planning to keep the car "stock".

There are a lot of brands and many threads here in the engine section, just search and you will see many discussions about ER, Forge, ETS, Evolve, Helix, Wagner etc. Anything is better than stock.

In your case I would pay particular attention to engine cooling and keep this in mind when I choose other mods like an intake for instance, could be wiser to go for a closed intake or just air filter.

If you drive your car exclusively at night time and at lower temperatures it is another story

With more power you need more air and specially more cooler air… That should be priority on the list.

You can always go the custom tuning route and have a map fine tuned for whatever usage case you want to put the car through.

+1000 for Saudi Arabia. The stock intercooler barely keeps my IATs at bay in Oregon. with the Added boost of the 1M, and the weather in Saudi Arabia, it'll heat soak within one 3rd gear pull and timing pull starts occurring.

You want to invest in an intercooler for sure. I also suggest an upgraded oil cooler depending on your driving style and usage of the car.

I'm sure all the action happens at night though

Hi guys I am also looking into improving the pick up speed of my car but I don't want to change too many parts. If I add a Cobb alone will it make any difference? How much faster from 0 to 100?
Also does changing the intercooler or intake create turbo lag?

COBB is much more advanced that a boost controller and you don't want anything of the sort on your 1M.

COBB will give you decent performance. But to make it worth it, you will need supporting mods. Intercooler, DP, intake. OF course you can safely make more power with fewer mods, if you have access to higher octane gas(race gas or ethanol)

I have full bolt ons. Akra dp and Evo exhaust. Forge intercooler and afe stage 2 intake. The car dynoed around 380 hp and around 430lb torque. (I can't recall the exact numbers)
Car feels very smooth. Like stock but with more power.
