Wish I'd done KW V2 coilovers.
The first pic show a test fit of an 8.5x18 Breyton GTS-R on my lowered 128 with Eibachs and Koni FSD shocks. Thinking about going 8.5 all the way around. The second pic is a photoshop lowering of approx. 1.5". Looks a lot better, sigh.
It could be my imagination but other cars with just the Eibach springs look lower than mine. Maybe the spring perches on the FSD shocks? |

That is the very reason I went coilover route.
I have seen many Eibach spring installations and not all consistent in height. Some installations I have heard that they are higher than stock!! I can now adjust to the mm front/rear/left/right and with the KW v2 I can also adjust rebound if I so wish. I must admit I have mine set at the KW recommended setting and it just does everything so well that I have no need to adjust it!

I wonder if the KW v1 is same rebound setting as the KW v2 at the KW recommended setting.
If it is I would have been quite happy to save a bit of money and just get the v1's instead. Perhaps it's an option if you don't want to mess around with the settings.

Yes, I hear ya. I have been 'let down' by the ol' spring and shock routine before too. Sure it may cost more to go with coilovers, but everytime I have always been completely satisfied.
Years ago with my e36 M3 I was going to go for just springs/shocks...but swallowed the pill and forked over the cash for Ground Control coilover setup. Awesome kit....very precise and well matched for the car. Then last year, I was considering just springs in my 135, but thankfully I did it right with KW V2s. They are the perfect street / track setup, amazing kit and no regrets. Just this week, on my e46 sedan, I was considering replacing the tired old shocks with new springs and shocks, but I followed my gut instinct and just ordered a set of H&R street coilovers so that I can dial in the stance I really desire. So in short, spend more to be satisfied. |

No regrets going with the KW V2. I have it for three months now. When I want comfort I just adjust the rebound settings. Vise versa. And over time the shock will naturally go soft then you could adjust to make them stiffer again.

The seals in the shock will break down over time. A premium shock may last longer. When the seals leak, the shock will fail to hold the up & down action hence it does not absorb the bumps and therefore becomes soft. If you use your car more than 100K miles then you will n otice the difference.

I think he means does the V1 come w/ the same std. setting as the V2, just you can not adjust that setting on the V1 while u can on the V2... it seems that most people are leaving the stock setting on the V2 thus why not just purchase the V1 if its at the same setting as the V2

Thanks for the info guys. I've never modified the suspension in any of my cars and I find this very useful. The KW V2 seems like the best setup for street/track use which is exactly what I'm looking for.

The stock setting on the V2 (8 click open F; 6 clicks open R) is more on the comfort side. Perfect for street. I have also tried (6 click open F; 4 clicks open R), its too bumpy. Good for the track only. Currently my settings (7 click open F; 5 clicks open R) sets the car in the middle btw comfort & performance. |

Which H&R sport springs did you go with? Do you have any pics?
I'm thinking this might be a more affordable option for me as I would also like to get the M3 front sway bar, lower wishbone kit and tension rod kit. Does anyone know if this setup if this setup would work well? |
