Performance Delivery, anyone?
Is anyone planning on doing a Performance Delivery out of SC? It sounds like a nice introduction to your new BMW, including time around a track on a 'same as purchased model' (wouldn't want to track a 0 mile car).
How was your experience, and would you recommend it? /discuss |

Are there any financial incentives as with ED?
Also, the bigger question relates to another thread I created... breaking in the car. It's recommended that you utilizes all gears through the break in cycle, this won't be accomplished much with majority higway driving. In retrospect though, highway driving does break in the engine quite smoothly with a prolonged and steady use of the engine. Thought? |

Break in, with a 6 speed tranny is a snap, with a 65mph speed limit. You can use 3rd thru 6th and still stay within the speed limit and the recommended rpm limit.
In Europe it's a bit different since you have a much higher (or no) speed limit. However, you are robbing yourself if you predominantly stay on the Autobahn. The secondary roads are twisty, undulating, go through farm country, are paved well, and you get to see castles and medieval villages along the way.\ You are correct that there are no financial incentives for Performance Center Delivery. |

No additional cost, IIRC - other than the cost you incur to get there. There are a couple of perks once there. Check the BMW USA website for more details:

Sounds like a good reason not to take the Interstate home! Hmmm, there's a damn lot of twisty roads between South Carolina and Dallas...

I did PCD with my 328. It was a great experience. If I decide to purchase a 1 I will certainly do it again. And according to our dealer ,Century BMW, it was $500 but I was able to negotiate that to $0.

Hi Jake, there is no additional cost to do PCD. You're dealer was trying to screw you for $500. Gotta love those who can smile while doing that...

My wife/I picked up our family's 2005 Volvo V50 at Volvo's Gothenburg, Sweden factory. That program did not include any driving instruction but had similar reception, delivery experience, luncheon and factory tour in addition to 8% discount and free roundrip airfare with no delivery charge. However....a Volvo is not a BMW  from the driving seat. Rick |

We really like the small V50 T5 AWD..the 3 series equivalent would have been several thousand more comparably equipped but the 128i may be a great stable mate for it! Rick |

That is an excellent article on PD, really piqued my interest. That would be a great way to pick up a car in the US.
Edit: Ha Ha, just noticed my wife changed my signature line to the girly heart smily. She just discovered that I was posting here and said "you are such a dork!" Game on!
