$580...that's a bit rich. The USA guys can get it for under US$50.
http://www.bmwnav.net/ The whole of Europe costs A$60 http://navigationdisk.eu/?cat=3 How about this guy? http://cheapertracks.com/bmw.htm

I went through all this last year, when I wanted to upgrade my 2008 Pro Nav disc. I ended up getting a 2009 copy from someone over east that didn't want to publicise it. Anyway, it worked fine (although it does a fair bit of seeking and you can hear it if the stereo's down).
My experience as a result? I would be pissed big time if I'd paid the big bucks for it, WA really is a backwater as far as BMW is concerned as the major new highway didn't exist yet (other than 'proposed') and various other errors still existed. There is no way I will pay that much for a Nav disc. Are they mad? $100, yes. $500+, get stuffed - especially as it still uses the same crappy graphics and has the same errors. Don't these companies see that they condone piracy? My next vehicle purchase will be made with eyes open and I won't make the same mistake again.

I've had a look at that ebay seller miker0777. My instinct tells me something not quite right. I do not believe it is a genuine copy.
My proposition as there seems to be quite a few interested parties: I will buy 2010 business nav for 135i this coming week from BMW. I will back up and see if it works. If it works then I will post on the board. I am backing up my own copy which is legal. For those with business nav just shoot me a pm after I have confirmed. You will need to state 'i own business nav 2010 and would like to have a back up done'. I think you understand why! Adresses and such forth can be sorted via pm or email. Disclaimer: It is not my intention to sell or make money from this DVD. The charge of $60 is solely to cover cost of postage, case, DVD, and time taken to create your backup. The DVD will arrive clearly labelled as 'backup'. The above is not necessarily the finalized statement. What do you guys think? |

I have pronav in my X5, so if someone can confirm to me that this will also work in a 1 series and there is interest then I might be persuaded.
Also, refer back to my post above about the ebay seller..... my instincts sometimes scares me! I found this on E90post: kenw238 Registered Drives: 335i Coupe Join Date: May 2010 Location: Perth WA, Australia Posts: 4 iTrader: (0) Yes, it's mainly for the passengers and it's especially a godsend for them on long drives. I had my e46's tv unlocked with a plug and play unit but with the e92, it requires reprogramming via the car's OBD connection. It's quite a favourable feature once you have experienced it and not an overly distracting feature as many may presume it to be. I did a bit of research regarding the vendor mikero777 and came up with this: http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130630 What do you guys think? It seems like he's been buying nav units from the USA vendors and scamming them by claiming through Paypal that he has received faulty units or that he actually removed parts from them and returned them back for refunds. Anyone from NSW dealt with him? The thought of posting him a tv tuner unit worth a substantial amount of money make me very uneasy. kenw238 View Public Profile Find More Posts by kenw238 05-30-2010, 12:24 PM #6 bcoz spectator Drives: 330d Sedan Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Sydney, Australia Posts: 157 iTrader: (0) Quote: Originally Posted by kenw238 I did a bit of research regarding the vendor mikero777 and came up with this I have not dealt with mikero777, but I noticed that a few guys caught him out cancelling auctions for Navigation disks prematurely, and then trying to make deals outside eBay. See Navigation DVD thread below... http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...44#post7349544 Seems dodgy to me. |

It worked for me in Jan this year. The guy I got it off had a 335 and it worked fine in my 135 with the old style Pro Nav. I don't think you should risk it though, who knows what they've changed...

What's the latest nav version on the harddrive? They've just reprogrammed the car - issues with bluetooth. Looks like the nav's changed now displaying the freeway codes etc, plus minor tweaks re menu. - still no new gateway though.

I too did a bit of looking around to see what I could find on the eBay vendor - don't think I'll be going with him. Besides, someone we all know in Melbourne who is quite instrumental in helping us all out with regards to our cars has a solution for me. I'm not going into detail, so please don't ask. Sorry to be cryptic, I'm sure some of you will figure it out, but don't post if you do....

It's Monday morning, and here is the dumest arse question I'm going to post on this forum, but where/how do you load in or update the nav disk?
I have Business nav in the 125 with i drive. I asked the dealer when collecting the , he thought it was on cd, but couldn't find it, or eject it and you could the nav without any 'cd' being loaded in the drive, so I never really got an answer. Before getting the car I expected to need to load the cd into the stereo whenever it needed to refer to the map, thus also the reason also why people were backing up their cd's and using the copied versions daily. again apologies for being dumb arse BMW newb on this topic.....

On that point....my LCI X5 40d arrives in the next few weeks. It has pro nav - should I be getting the DVD with it even though the sat nav software is loaded on the HDD? If the software is the same across all models surely I can update my E90 with the same DVD.

I seem to recall that you don't get a DVD any more with the HDD based models, but I can't remember where I saw that - I think the dealer loads it from a master disc and you just get a code. I guess time will tell.

yup, unfortunateley with newer hard drive based navigation there is no way to load your own discs. The dealer orders a disc which they load into your car and also comes with an activation code which only they know and is apparently unique to your VIN. So out of luck here.
However, in other news...... I bought a business 2010 map from BMW today. I have backed up my original and tested the copy - works beautifully, no errors. For those who would also like to back up their own original copy pm me for further info. |
