Anybody want a Google Mail Gmail account?

Anyone want a Gmail (Google Mail) invite? - something like 2.7 gig storage per account at the moment.

I've got a 100 to give away. Free of course!!!

You have a lot more than that to give away. They just keep refilling the number you can give away either every day or every few hours. I have given away tons of invites and it still says I have 100 more to give.

yeah, it's definitely not as big of a deal as it was a year or two ago. i got it when it was still only 6 invitations per account. i gave them all away to friends, then got a refill to 10, then 50, and now it's 100. i think they're very close to go from beta to production release.

I like how they did it though. I sent a whole bunch of invitations to myself and was able to register almost every variation on my name, plus some additional accounts for spam purposes and such. With the free auto forwarding, I set them all up to forward to the one account I use. It is great.

Quick note to all...

Never post your email addy in any forum. At least not in the format of name@domain.com. Use something like name -at- domain.com if you want to give someone your addy. There are "spiders" which crawl through web pages looking for email addresses and generating spam lists. Posting your addy leaves you vulnerable to more spam.

I wonder if Google is going to charge for their gmail service. I hate it when companies build up a rep slowly and then all of a sudden, BAM - charge for everybody. Examples: ICQ (oh, those were the days), and 'free' webhosts.

Google's getting all nifty in features, though. The SMS feature via cellphone is pretty cool - lets you find movie showtimes, weather, and directions all from your cell phone. Their Picasa program is by far the best photo-organizing program I've seen (at least personally) and nothing beats the coolness of Google Earth. I get to peek at the mansions off of the La Jolla shores and actually get to see how many tennis courts they have (the poor mansions have only 1 tennis court while the richer ones have 2 along with a 100 meter swimming pool).

I don't think they will. None of the other successful email services have been able to charge. Yahoo gets a few people to pay, but not many. Google makes their money from advertising, and they offer all these cool services because it draws more traffic and gives them more places to display their content specific ads. You should see what it costs to advertise through them. It can get real expensive real fast.
