On the jacking issue, my floor jack and adapter only fits under the rear jackpoint. However once I jack the rear and drop it, the front stay plenty high enough to then get the jack under. That's easier than driving on a 2x4 for me even if I just need to jack the front.

I've run both the R888 and Sport Cups on my GT500 at the track. Michelins have a smaller 'sweet spot' temperature wise. Both are great in the dry, pretty lousy in anything beyond a damp surface. I run Dunlop Star Specs on my M3 track car and they are really nice. I'd say 90% of the grip I got with the R888s I ran previously on that car, but less noise and also work great in the rain. I just run those all the time on the M3 now (street or track) and will be putting a set on the 135. Also tough to beat the price.

I'll just throw this in, I don't think it was mentioned. When I drive my car to the track with R-Comps they pick up every little pebble and stone and throw it up in the air and against the body.
While I don't worry too much about road rash, I still cringe everytime I hear the spray of loose asphalt in the wheel wells. On the plus side, people don't tailgate. If you want top performance but do not intend on tracking a lot, I would personally go with Dunlop Star Specs or Kuhmo XS (Dunlops much better in the rain than Kuhmos), these tires are very sticky and approaching older R-Comp levels. R-Comps are still going to be faster on a track, but driving your car at the limit on R-Comps on public streets is pretty dump, IMHO. |
