Stripped rear exhaust hanger mount

I was installing a hitch last night and had to lower the exhaust. When putting the m8 1.25 bolt back in I noticed it angled slightly and stopped about half way in. The bolt looks good so I'm assuming the female side is stripped.

Any suggestions? Is a tap the best option? I'm assuming I'd need to expand the hole to 3/8 or so?

Attached is a photo if it helps any.

Just run a tap through it first. Might clean it up enough to make it usable.

Thanks! I went with that approach and was able to thread the bolt easily. Hoping the threads hold.

If not, longer bolt and nut on top ... I think I see your finger so you should be able to get a nut on it?
