Well the M3 convertible has a drag coefficient at .35. The drag coefficient on a 135i is between .32 - .34 depending on what model you have. I have hit 172 mph in my old E46 M3. That obviously did not have nearly as much power as the 135i..so you are most likely looking at a bit over 180 to possibly 190.
With that being said please do not do this on public roads. It is just not worth it. There are a lot of things to take into account when going at speeds like that. Correct tires, tire pressure, road conditions. A simple pothole or water bottle in the road can blow your tire.

imagine what that would feel like on the stock suspension! car would need a full detail after that let along a puckered butthole!
the feeling of acceleration is where its at though in all seriousness, speed kills... cobb 0-60 will scare the crap out of any passenger you put in the car

I did 175 in my Corvette and that requires full attention. That car is much better planted at speed than the 135. I could not imagine going that speed in the 1 on the OEM suspension. No thank you.

If you have around 360 to the wheels, looks like you could expect between 170-180 mph. I assumed a frontal area of around 22.5 ft^2. You would need around 520hp at the wheels to hit 200 in this car, and that would be terrifying! |

Heres my 2 cars nose to nose. The 1 sits way too high in the stream for speeds like that and that big square nose is a brick.. The ZR1 Corvette has about 520 to the wheels and is a shade over 200mph(205?). Mine has 522rwhp but havent had the opportunity to try it up to 200. I seriously doubt a 520rwhp 135 is hitting 200.

I definitely think 180 is possible...190 is pushing it, and I really highly doubt you will ever see 200 out of a 135i.

Even if it had the cd to allow it to push through the air at 190-200(which it doesn't w/o benefit of well over 500whp) you have to also take into account, downforce and air under the car. Im quite sure the 135 body wasnt designed by BMW to be a 200mph vehicle.
Would bet that the 135 would be treacherous at that speed. |

I have pulled 6,300 rpms in 6th gear in my 135i (tuned) that is about 180 mph! It felt like there was much more top end. But I ran out of clear autobahn. Maybe when I drive to Munich next weekend (1er's meet @Welt) I will find a clear stretch of autobahn and take pic of my GPS/navi speed in kph. The 1er guys say they can do 294 to 305 kph. I believe them. Marcel told me he has hit 305 kph in his 335i (tuned). This video shows Marcel's SW mod to the speedo... when you peg the speedo out at 280kph the needle swings back to 120 kph and starts reading higher from there. SO far Marcel says 304 or 306 kph is the fastest he has gone. (146-120= 26+280 = 306 kph) - but he doesn't get that fast in this video. I think he gets to just under 300 in this video 306 kph in a 335 with stage-III mods... verified by the car's iDrive. Dackel Last edited by Dackelone; 05-12-2011 at 07:52 PM.. |

Dont be ignorant and insult others because of your personal opinions, Dak is in Germany where grannies drive at 170 lol. Im sure they were in the full controll of the machine and thier faculties, on roads designed to handle this kind of speed...

In the united states if you have a 135 with a sport package your limited to 155mph. If you have a non sport 135 your limited to 130mph. Fact!!

I have a US Spec 135i M sport, in 6th I was at 150ish and backed off at partial throttle, I didnt have it flored, about 4/5 throttle, maybee a bit less... I felt it could have hit 160 easy but was comming up on a sweeping right hander so I backed off. havent had the chance to get back out on the Autostrada and find the limit again.

Anyways the GPS set up will be much more accurate speed reading. So let us know how that goes.
