50,000 Euros = $69,500 (compared to M3 which is 65,000 Euros = $90,350) Rate = 1.39 dollars per Euro.
Hard to imagine it will be under $50,000 in the US.

The base M3 coupe is $58,400 in the US, based on your formula it translates to a $45,000 base price for the 1M coupe.

Americans generally are able to buy a German car in the US for fewer Dollars than Germans pay Euros (despite the currency conversion) - we get a far better deal than almost any other world market.

sure hp isnt everything but the same engine as the Z4? cmon! i love the look of the car, but im not sure if i should just get a e90 M3 instead.... thoughts? and 0-06mph in 5,X seconds? the 135i already does a 5,1sec from 0-62mph.

This M3 in frozen grey was at 'RingWerk Musuem. Note the price! Acording to BMW AG's website... the base price of a M3 in Germany starts at 68,350 euros. I am not sure why on the car at the Ring the base price was 90K euros. source: http://www.bmw.de/de/de/general/conf...figurator.html |

The bit about sequential turbos (*) seems intriguing...
If true, this would support the statement that it's "no straight N54is transplant". If true, of course... |

I already have an E90 M3. This would be a nice add to my sports car collection of one. If only I can convince my wife to get one of these instead of an MDX or Highlander to carry our child

"upper rpm turbo" which would flatten the torque curve up top.... But with the GT35r and other kits about to come out for the N54, I may not end up trading my 135i in after all.... |

@Dackelone: It's not the base price. It's the options on the car.
Grundpreis (Base price): 68.350,- Sonderausstattung (Options): 26.010,- BMW Individual Ausstattung (BMW individual options - probably the frozen grey): 5.990,- Totals to: 100.350,- Euro (equivalent to 139.000 US$ at todays interbank rate) Yup. You can easily buy two M3s in the states for the price we pay for one in Germany.

My theory is, that they leave half the power out and that makes it fair again. Driving straight at 55mp/h the market will never notice anyhow. I rather have to pay more and instead not only theoretically have to discuss how a car handles at 285km/h.
