Auto Dimming Mirror
I didn't opt for the premium package because I didn't need half the things on the list. However, I would have liked to get the auto dimming mirror if I could have. My question is, can I still have the auto dimming mirror retrofited?
Thanks |

Yes you can. You'll to buy the entire rear-view mirror. It is not cheap though... Go see on the BMW website you can see the price for your region.

I was told I couldn't by Circle BMW..... my car was not prewired for it since I did not have certain packages, which were included in the Premium package, they ran my VIN and said no. There is a retrofit harness but I am not spicing anything into my car, I will deal with turning the clown nose! Good luck and if you do buy the mirror ($330, and the harness $30) be sure to put up a DIY after you do it, if you still plan to!

Here's the auto-dimming mirror you can buy (from the scanned brochure sticky'd at the top of the general forum), but make sure you can retrofit like mapezzul said, and give us a DIY if you decide to do it!

430 and 431 are part of the premium package. See bimmerfest's ordering guide.

I've seen a couple people on Bimmerfest that don't like their auto dimming mirror (for some reason???). Maybe you could work out some kind of trade with them.

On a related issue I could swear the opions for Premium said auto dimming rearview and side mirrors but I have never seen my side mirrors dim. Is there something wrong with them or was that just BS and it is only the rear that is autodimming?

There are new part numbers for different mirrors. Go to the Dealership and ask to see the new BMW catalog that displays the coupe. Thompson BMW in PA seems to have a good price on the rearview auto-dimming mirrors with homelink, compass - $380.

my side mirrors seem to dim as well as my rear view, unless there's something wrong with my eyes. at night all cars look like they have 6000k headlights when I look at them in any of the mirrors.
