S14 Powered E36 Touring Car at Road Atlanta

http://www.seththomas.net/media-gall...6-touring-car/

This past weekend I drove an old BMW E36 Touring Car at Road Atlanta. This little 4cyl powered BMW was able to lap with slicks in the 1:32.85 range. On R-Comps, NT01s are on the car in the video, a 1:35.10 is what we could get out of the car during the race.

This car is really a great car to drive as everything worked in it flawlessly. It had a sequential box, 300HP 2.5L Motor, airjacks, centerlocks, dual-master cylinder racing brake system, and more. For a car as old as this car was it was one of the most awesome cars I have driven. You were always busy either shifting, downshifting, or driving the car as it was fast and solid.

The car seemed very twitchy and nervous. Must have been a handful. Bummer for losing the wheel. You were passing everyone

It was a little bit of a handful but mainly because you really had to concentrate on keeping the speed up with such a narrow powerband. One little slip and it would fall flat on its face trying to accelerate out of a turn. The steering inputs make the car look nervous as it didn't have power steering with solid suspension mounts so the wheel would move more than you would normally see in a street car/track car. Plus about the only stock part of this car was the shell that started it. The suspension, engine, tranny, diff, etc were all race specific parts modified to get the car as low as possible and as efficient as possible. It was still a blast!
