How many $ does HPFP replacement cost?

I'd like to know exactly how much it costs to have the HPFP replaced. I've already had mine replaced once and there are a few of us reaching the end of our warranty so I'd like to know what the total cost would be for parts and labour if this was paid out of our own pocket.

I am pretty sure xsboost said that even once out of warranty that BMW will still cover the fuel pump if it dies I think we only have to pay the labour cost.

You are covered to 100,000 or 120,000 miles...BMW has already sent out letters months ago about the extended warranty on the pump....i had mine replaced as well and the car has run perfect ever since....

That sounds reasonable. At least it would be better than forking out the costs of the parts too. I wonder how this would affect those that have modified their cars after the warranty period? BMW has now openly admitted their is a design flaw in their HPFP which leads me to believe they can't shift the blame as easily for any HPFP failures.

IZAGLO, we haven't received any notification regarding any extended warranty for the fuel pumps here in Australia.

modifications wont matter Vin, as you said BMW have openly admitted that there is a design floor in the fuel pump.

I agree Matt. Now that an official statement has been made by BMW one would think it admit liability on their part regardless of any modifications.

I don't see why we should have to fork out for labour cost as well

I do agree, this is just what I heard but I suppose at the end of the day it does comes down to the dealer and your relationship with them. You may not have to pay anything at all.

for a COD repair i would think what ever the HPFP part costs plus three hours labor. I could be wrong. I think BBBlue(?) said he replaced his himself in the Bitburg parking lot at a drag strip meet. I think the HPF part costs around $400, but thats going off of my memory. I trued looking it up on RealOEM but they only list the part number and no price.

Btw... I suspect the only county that will get a lifetime warranty on the HPFP is North America. I bet BMW will make the rest of the the world pay for this repair after the warranty period is up.

Even in Germany, a new BMW only has a two year warranty. AND even then it is really just six months. From six months to two years its up to BMW "good will" coverage. That is what I understand from my German friends.

The price of the pump is $383US
If you had to buy this pump from aus mostly likely cost you $1500 or more from a lovely ripoff dealers.
But there is no way I'm going to pay for labour and pump their stuff up and we don't no if they have fixed it yet.

I was at my dealer this morning discussing the 1M and he was fully aware of the HPFP recall that has been announced..So there shouldnt be any probs with replacement after the warranty period..
You can always purchase the 24 month extended bmw warranty for peace of mind.

G'day Joe, wonder if that means we will be getting a recall notice to replace the HPFP regardless if they have started to play up, or need to wait till the fail to get them replaced?

Hey there mate.. That was the GREY area that he didnt really give me much detail on..

I inquired whether mine will be recalled even thou it had the pump replaced and he wasn't sure on that either.

I don't think they've come up with a redesign yet, so I can't see why they'd replace a working pump with another one that's the same. Personally, I wouldn't want them to.

I could be off the mark here, but I don't see how the recall is one bit different from what they're doing now, except that they're sending out notices of the problem. If you bring it in, and it's working, I guarantee they're just gonna reprogram it. If the HPFP is dead, they'll replace it. How is that different?

I didn't realise the HPFP was so affordable. Is it the only part we need to replace when there is a failure? It seems as if the most expensive part is the labour.

I've already had the software flash done, which has fixed the long cranks (for now). But it's a pretty agricultural solution.
