will a 275 tire be ok for just drag stip day use?
I am looking to purchase a drag radial for drag strip use only and was wondering if I could get away with using a 275 for just the 50 mile trip to and from the drag strip and the few passes I would do... Is it going to run on stock heigh and suspension or even fit at all ?
figured Id put them on a 9 inch rim... My other option is using 17x8+47 z4 wheels I have with 245 hooisers or nt555rs |

275/35-18's fit on the APEX Arc-8 Wheels If you go with a larger aspect ratio you'll end up rubbing the top of your wheel well.
Be very careful with wheel selection for a 275 as an improper offset will quickly get you rubbing the fender lip. |

If the drive to the strip is completely flat and smooth you could probably get away with it but I wouldn't chance it. You wont want to be hitting any bumps with that setup. You are better off using your 17's and a nice drag radial.

ok thats what ill do...
either hooiser dot radials or nt555rs in 245/45/19 used a 305/35/18 on my previous 370z so this seems like much less rubbber for much more power with one less wheels spinning, lmao.. |

I'm using 255 R888's which arent even drag radials on stock wheels. It's not that bad. Just warm them up real good and ease into it off the line. No interest in the MT ET Street 2's? Also, taller tire is better, 45 is fine.

a taller tire is better for deformation and lengthening of the contact patch, which obviously help traction, but don't forget that the final drive in this car is already prohibitively long with the stock sized tires.

I have two 17x8 z4 wheels coming and I need to decide on a radial... leaning towards hooiser dot radials... it seems they all are 45 profile for the 17 inch wheel..
my other option is the et street 2's but i will have to have them mounted and dismounted for now as i really dont have it in my budget to purchase two 18 inch wheels i got the z4 wheels for just over 100 shipped for the two, hooiser 17 drs and 200 555rs are 180 |

Just mounted 275/40/17 NT05R drag radial on my z4 wheels 17x8.5
Will put them on the car tomorrow and see how they fit... I will say the compound is very soft and the nt05rs seem like they will work really really good.. i used 245 nt555r's last week for a trip to the track from a buddy and i can tell right away these nt05r's are far superior to the nt555rs... also going to a 275 from a 245 will help a lot as well..

I ended up getting a 17x8.5 inch Z4 rim... its a 5 star wheel and looks similar to my stock 18s on my 135. I have a 275/40/17 Nitto NT05R Drag Radial on them.TheHe wheel is +46 offset I believe and I had to roll the rear fenders in order to completely eliminate rubbing on the stock ride height. It would rub veroccasionallyly over big dips in the road.
