Quote for Clear Coat
I'm about to take delivery of my alpine white '09 135i and have been considering a clear film to protect the front of the car.
The quote I've been given is $900 for the full protection (bumper/side view mirrors/etc). I know nothing about this sort of thing, so does anyone have thoughts on whether A) it's worth putting on the clear coat, and B) if this is a fair price? Thank you!

sounds a little steep just to do a couple parts on the car
but it is totally worth it if it is a good quality film. for example if you got a full car wrap and someone rubs into your door or slams into it, you can always peel off the wrap and put a new piece on the affected area

some people have paid more...some people have paid less. i have had a customer take his cars a few hours away to a highly recommended installer and paid over a grand a car. most of the time, you get what you pay for when it comes to something like this. just make sure the person or shop is up to the task and has excellent recommendations and substantial experience.
you are the only one who can answer the question about whether its worth it or not.

I had a full clear bra done on my GTI (bumpers, mirrors, grill, fenders, hood) for about $550 installed.
I'm hoping I can find a place that'll do it in Germany after I order my 135. |

FYI: I'm sure that a lot of the custom shops offer a great product (I would hope so for $900), but I just bought the full kit from BMW for 150 euro (a little over $200?). I am hoping to get it installed in a couple of days, so I'll be able to actually give some feedback on the finished product - but it is genuine 3M clearbra.

I just received two quotes for my incoming Alpine White 330i. Protective film for the fenders, hood and front bumper (no mirrors) was $485 from an independent shop, and $620 from the local BMW dealer. The amount of road rash that my 2002 330xi accumulated over 7+ years and 92,000 miles makes this a no-brainer decision for me!
Edit: Sorry I meant my incoming Alpine White 135i !!! |
