TPMS Sensor Question

Is there an early and late model version for the TPMS sensor. Where is the model year break and what is the difference.

I believe the year difference is from 08-10 and 11-12+. i'll make a wild guess and say its a frequency difference.

Wheel electronics module, RDC 433MHZ.
Seems to be same frequency 07 - 12/2011 but product changes at 09/2010
