Question New kid.. Need some advice...

Okay so i pick up my 1er tomorrow!

So im wondering what i should do first!!! these are my options (if you have any others, i'm open to ideas):

1: Go for the cobb.. but kinda scared i'm gonna kill myself on day one or two
2: Get the black grilles, maybe a radar detector, and a JB+ or something.
3: Save some money and just wait it out

Its a Montego Blue 135i with about 40,000 miles on it and so far, completely stock.

Houston TX FTW. Hit me up if you want any help with anything.

Cobb is great, but i love my JB4. So much adjustability.

You should do the black grills, carbon fiber spoiler, hard wired radar and you are set. Enjoy!

Congratulations! I would recommend the following but everything always depends on your budget:

1) radar detector (escort 9500ix) + Veil Stealth coating. This will save you money. Go to RadarRoy online for radar detector comparisons and Veil description.
2) Cobb Access port tuner - after you get used to the stock power. Cobb will increase the torque tremendously and is a lot of fun I selected the Cobb over JB b/c 1) flash tune 2) free upgrades.
3) black kidney grilles and other cosmetic mods including a different axle back exhaust (deaper tone v stock).

Be safe and have FUN!

Dont buy jb+ because sooner or later you'll want to upgrade to Cobb, Procede or JB4...

I'll probably get flamed for this but I would wait, as I am frustratingly doing...

Go for some other mods first (hardware) and save money for wheels+ tires as the stock set can barely handle current power let alone a chipped engine.

Will do. Im supposed to be picking up in about 30-45 minutes. Hoping all goes well, BMW has been doing all the recalls w/ the seatbelts, airbags, hpfp. The JB4 would be awesome and originally was my first choice but since i'm going to be in college I just figured the flash w/ a cobb would be quicker? Still have some research to do though.

Will post picture asap

First thing u tell them, don't attach your license plate if your state needs it in the front. Of course if only you are going to get the plate assemble parts.

http://www.skenedesign.com/FPBracket/index.shtml

Second, if you detail your car, tell them not to wash and wax your car.

#3 on your list. Wait a bit.

You seem to want to "fix" things that you don't even know are wrong. Get the car, drive the car, then decide what you want to change. Then you'll know that you really wanted to change it and why, and you'll know what the difference was afterwards. That's part of the fun of it.

Okay so I got my car! Since my last car was a Honda Civic, I think i will be okay with the speed for at least a year or so, plus I really don't have 900 dollars to invest in the Cobb AP since i purchased a 4000$ comprehensive warranty on top of the already expensive car. I'm in love with this thing though, I have the black grilles on order already but I think thats all I'm gonna do for now, maybe a JB+ just to hold me over.. does anybody have experience with this? will i still have to go into the ECU, because I might as well get a JB4 at that point.

So many possibilities

Good advice. I made sure my salesman knew that I didn't want ANY thing to touch that car. Will be taking to a "touch-less" carwash as well

JB+ does not go in the ECU, it connect to the map sensor on the charge pipe. Problem is its actually quite difficult to get to. JB4, you will not be dissapointed!

Go JB4. Best bang for buck.

I can't afford the suspension upgrades for now but was thinking about a sway bar, my cousin (a fellow 1 addict) recommended that as well. Still weighing my options, however, the JB4 is actually looking good to me. Other than the install which kinda scares me, the gains seem very generous for the price. May have to have some help with install though as I don't trust myself going into the ECU compartment, but we'll see

Today was my first day ACTUALLY getting to drive my car. I put about 100 miles on it today, and it goes without saying - most amazing day! Im starting to think I will be springing for the JB4 if I have enough money left after my trip to San Antonio. I love this car though! I was at 2 different BMW dealerships today (getting a spare key made, as the dealership had lost mine originally) and all the service guys were staring. Cant wait to get the grilles on there and potentially a tune. I love my car, and I think my girlfriend is jealous

I'd wait on the jb4 until you really learn how to control that kind of power stock, especially if your coming from a civic
