Garage Creeper
I'm looking for a good low profile garage creeper. Currently I've been doing "The Reverse Worm" whenever I get under the car and it's not really doing good things for my neck...
I don't have much space under the car when I put it on the Autobarn ramps at the front and SCA 1500kg jack stands at the rear at their lowest setting. I could try and lift it higher but I don't really feel comfortable doing that because I feel something's going to give... Does anyone have any recommendations for a good garage creeper that would be suitable for the height at which my car is jacked up? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pro-lift-...ht_2229wt_1139 - This looks pretty useful but it's about 12cm high and I feel that it might not give me enough clearance to work effectively underneath the car.

Maybe I'll have to drop by one of the stores, jack my car up in the parking lot and see if it'll work

When you guys jack up your car, do you somehow get it higher than the minimum clearance on whatever jackstand you have?
What method do you guys use to jack up the car at home? Currently I drive the front wheels up onto the ramps, use the front side jack pad to lift up the side of the car to fit in a jack stand under the same side rear pad then do the same for the other side. But I feel that if I lift it any higher than the minimum clearance the car'll tip off the stand or slide off the jack stand... I use the SCA 3000kg pair jackstands which have a minimum height of 367mm. I use a small wooden block (~18mm) between that and the jack pad (~25mm) so I probably have about 400-420mm of clearance from the floor to the underbody of the car. If I use a creeper that's not low profile enough I'm just worried that my face will just be smushed against the underbody.

With the car on stands a normal creeper should be fine. |
