Leave it stock unless you plan on boosting more than 14psi. Anything less and the stock intake is more than adequate.

Tough choice. Dinan and GruppeM are the best looking, but DCIs make cooler sounds.

As for function, DCIs are good for drag racing and don't cost very much; and Dinan is good for everything, but it's expensive.

the sound is well worth it!!! i know you have the N54, but i just installed the Injen intake on my N55, and it is awesome. You can hear the turbo spool and the DV release pressure.

I think there's a thread on e90post somewhere with some comparisons on drop-filters (and possible DCI's) to stock. Not a great deal of difference unless you're running much higher boost levels as ErvGotti pointed out.

get a drop in and leave it alone, even if you boost more than 14psi all the DCI will do is suck your power away (along with a shit ton of hot air).

here's my setup...at the quarter mile track i did a couple runs and got better times with the dci but you know how unreliable track times are...i switched back and forth and like the modded intake best.

I had been planning on doing this same comparison. Do you have the Cobb logs between the runs?

Injen seemed the best choice to me.

If you get a tune, and boost high psi, DCI all the way. Just get the ones from burger, they're like $95

Did your trap speeds increase? Thats a good indication if you actually made more power.
