Ditto."a sort of entry-level vehicle into the world of M".

Absolutely loved the last paragraph. It sums up one of the reasons that I bought the 135i, regardless of price:

excellent article, thanks for the link. one thing that didn't make sense to me:
the article says: "So the question is — do you want comfort and size, or do you want to drive?" the data panel says: "HANDLING: a tidy chassis makes the 135i feel more zippy than a 3 series, but its suspension setup resits oversteer at all costs. this provides a safety net during slalom runs, but detracts from its overall driving excitement." Seems kinda inconsistent, to say the 1 drives better but then, when comparing a 1 to the 3 directly, they say the 1's suspension setup detracting from driving excitement. |

Those guys are still the greatest, been reading R&T for 40 years. I think their characterizations are spot-on.
Looking at the data chart, I guess this is not new information but it really hit me: 52/48 is not 50/50. I guess that's w/driver. Really curious to discover what that rear ballast actually involves.

Good article. I like the ending line!
Sounds like some bigger front tires are in order, at least.
