When my car was still under warranty I got the oil service + checkup for $406 each time from Auto Classic.

I am seriously contemplating converting over, and buying a 135i.
Bit of back ground, I've had my fair share of Japanese imports all from, R32 GTR, various drift cars from 180sx SR20, 2JZ 180sx, 4DR R32 (with twin cam RB30), and currently driving a 200SX S15 2001 daily.

Im not afraid of a little maintenance and expect it with owning any performance car, yet I really want to hear it from you guys, especially located in Australia how much the servicing and running costs of a N55/N54 x35i car can cost.

btw; I am new here, so hello everyone haha - Name is Wayne.
I've had an R32 gts-t and still have a 33 GTR and a Stagea and I've been buying all my parts from the US/GB and they are about the same price as the Nissans, especially the GTR. Some are more/some less.

The only pain i've come across is the BMW's are a lot more integrated with computers controlling every single piece of the car. The older Nissans and probably the same for the BMW's of the same era are just a few sensors plugged into the main ECU.

Nice den of cars, RadiuM. Are you on SAU.com.au?

What frequency are you guys servicing at?

I guess what I like about the 135i and especially in todays time/style, the x35i series would be last of a raw, RWD, manual (stick) driven car which is what really attracts me whilst still being really modern.

My budget at this stage is looking around, $35k - 40k. Am I pitching too low and probably asking for trouble?

I use to be on SAU many moons back but stopped when I got my 135i. The R is currently being rebuilt due to a blown big end so I've had to buy a crapload of internal stuff and when buying BMW off off ECS tuning etc I often look at the same products just to compare the prices are about the same, if not cheaper. Buying locally though, now that's a laugh!!

Having owned a few Nissan's with their RB engines I went straight for the 135i due to the inline 6 engine. I love the sound of the things

I service the 135i at ~7500km intervals.

Exactly the same, inline 6, manual (clutch & stick), twin turbo, RWD - Ticking every box. What are your personal thoughts on a budget of 35k - 40k and anywhere else I should be looking to purchase other then carsales? I have no issue potentially travelling anywhere in Aus to get it

know all to well, a RB26 big end issues!

Not sure sorry, I bought mine new 5 years ago. There seems to be a few nice ones under 45k and lowish km's for the age.

Yeah, I got my Tomei oil restrictor ready to go in

M3 E92 water damage

Hi all
Today I received a E92 M3 engine for repair all the way from Adelaide.
Task at hand is to strip and report, SHOCK HORROR $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
When you see a large pool of water on the road you should always slow down.
Never never speed up yahoo water spray every where this is fun well this is fine when you drive is a cheap daily but when its a $95,000 BMW you drive real slow.

We now have a very servilely damaged engine, water does not compress so something has to give in this case its going to be your wallet.

@BMWlady 's was ~40k with .. 61,000km, everything pretty well immaculate, manual. No i-drive.

then SHOULD grab an OCC at least imo, before getting all the fun mods :P... nice downpipes, nice muffler and a tune, and they sound tits... for a more modern car, I don't think there's much else to look at for what you get.

looking at the price of seriously building an RB is pants wetting.

is the customer upgrading at least?

surely with that extent of damage to repair, it would be cheaper to get a wreck motor that runs o_o

I saw a porsche driving through a deep puddle once, big facepalm moment.
I know the flood spots in my area and will avoid them in heavy rain.
This is also a reason why those CAIs that go low at the front of your engine bay are a bad idea.

Can I chime in on the reliability discussion. I've spoken with a few 135i owners & most have stuck with the dealer 25000km intervals. I imagine for most cars on the market this will be the case. There are a few decent cars available with 70-80 000km & I'm wondering on their reliability given the extended intervals. I know everyone has an opinion on this, but it does make me a little concerned buying such a car with the intention of keeping for say 5 years reliably. Would a walnut blasted engine with oil changes every 5000km from that point stay reliable for a good while...

Stagea, 32GTST(HKS2535 and the lot), SR20 with GTRS Datsun, plus a few others.

Now BMW. I import my parts same as I did with my Nissans. Only issue are the damn electrics although I got all the xenon bits through the normal channels (EU) for peanuts.

Seems bloody good prices to me. Anyone has there car serviced there.

What are the standard DCT transmissions power rated too, as with the 6spd manual/OEM clutch?

7 series trans issue

We have a fair few 7 Series come our way for many different problems.
This one had the dreaded no forward motion trans issue, yep the Megatronics has crashed cant repair, just replace $4800 for the unit exchange + oil + filter + labour + tow + programming total cost around $6000.00.

This car was fine one day with no issues, the next day no drive, no start, and stuck in park, how to wreck your Friday
