Windows only control down on master switch

Hi All

On my 2011 135i I can command the windows down with the master switch on the driver side but not back up. I can put down the driver and passenger window but cannot put them back up. The mirror control buttons work and I can put the passenger window back up from the passenger switch and can only put the driver back up with a power probe to the window motor.

Any ideas on what to check ?

I’d replace the switch assembly in the door. It can be a little tricky getting it out. There’s a weird spring clip you have to disengage but once it’s out it’s an easy swap. I’m sure they’re available on eBay.

Look up your cars info and options on RealOEM and just search the applicable part numbers

IIRC, the footwell module also controls the window function. It’s not a cheap part and usually requires coding

There was a notice sent out by BMW concerning extending warranty coverage for the FRM. You might want to look into this.

You seem to have a handle on how things function, so do you know where the power is... let's say "broken"? Is it just +/- going into the switch, and then not coming out of the switch correctly? Or are there actually multiple wires headed to the switch, or some even to the motor itself? Just thinking that with some probing for +12V or so you might figure it out.

"Back in the day" you'd get 12V to the door, and the switch would work it out for the motor. But BMW's do seem to be unnecessarily complicated.

The down function works totally fine from the master switch and the power is in the right spot, just nothing happens on the up.

I tested it through the footwell modal and I can command the windows up and down fine through bimmergeeks pro tools will do the soft up after close and will go up and down with the remote hold lock and unlock.

Odd!

So - it kind of has to be the switch itself. Everything needed to make it go up is there and functioning, except the signal from the switch itself to kick off the chain of events. And when I say signal, I mean - it's probably just something not making contact in there. Guessing that's stating the obvious.

Check for continuity from the switch to the module, may have a damaged wire, door hinge likely culprit.
