Not many in the San Francisco Bay Area either. You'd think with all the luxury and high-performance cars we have around here you'd see more 1'ers.

I've seen many more Ferrari's, Lotus's, Lambo's, etc. In the last 9 months or so I've only seen about six or seven 1'ers on the road around here.

Nice to be in such exclusive company.

If you have money and buy cars for status, you won't get a 1. The 1 really is an enthusiast car because that's pretty much what it takes for someone with money to purchase one.

Beside my 135i, I have only seen two 1 series on the road in Western MA. One is a 128i coupe, the other a 135i convertible.

The dealer had a couple of 128i coupes on the lot and two 135i coupes, one a 2008.

I'm glad that the 1 series is not that common, but getting a car optioned the way I wanted took a factory order and a seven week wait.

More than 1

I'm in Houston and in my neighborhood, within a few blocks walk, I can pass a parked black 135 coupe and a gray 128 vert. I've also seen a white 135 vert in the neighborhood, on occasion.

Almost no sightings on the road, tho.

ive seen 2x 1 series around my area after a month of being back home. People around my area all have 3 series because they get a better deal out of the dealership. I know because i was offered that deal. To make you feel special, an M3 was checking my car out today around my area.

OP: The main reason you're not seeing a lot of 1ers is because it's a niche car. Most people just don't "get" why someone would spend nearly 3-series money on a smaller, "less prestigious" BMW. Most people buy a 1-series in the US because they are car enthusiasts, not poseurs.

Not a 1er in site except mine

I think its great having a car that is rare to see on the road. (car exclusivity) I live in Wa i have seen only two 1ers since may 2008 LoL. I'm still getting that puzzled "wtf kinda BMW is that bro...thats soo sick" when im out and about sooo yeah Im loving the exclusivity.

I live in the Chicago 'burbs as well and I've only seen two chicks driving 128i's... not 1 other 135! I think it's a prerequisite to own a BMW if you live in Vernon Hills, Lake Forest, Lincolnshire, Buffalo Grove, Evanston, or any other Chicago suburb and you'll see about ten 3 or 5-series at any given intersection that you stop at, but it's impossible to spot another 1'er around!

I like the uniqueness of our cars... I hope that production doesn't explode and litter the streets with them!

On the contrary... Low production should help our resale in the long-run. In fact, (I wish I could find the article) - in 2008 the 135i was ranked in the Top 10 cars expected to hold their value after 5 years.

Although, I wish my car wasn't exposed to this midwest salt... I'd love to keep this car for many, many years, but rust is going to be inevitable with winter driving
