Hey guys, I've been lurking and reading, noticing the stuff we have and don't have for the 1series. I've been in talks with a guy who makes polyurethane body parts for vehicles, and we're in the small stages of seeing if we can make a prototype.
I'm a graphic designer by trade, and I also wrap cars for a living as well- I design and install, basically. I have thrown together a very quick concept to start, and wanted opinions. Once I've got the design down (think m-performance with some carbon toughness) we're going to 3-D print the concept pieces for test fitting. This mainly is for me, but who knows. Feedback is always appreciated, as I just love designing concept pieces for cars. It's a goal of mine to make a real piece, even just once. |

Glad to see something else out there. What I really wish someone would do is make a sideskirt for the OEM widebody front (1M) and stanard 135i rear.

I wouldn't want the M-performance decals on it. BMW performance would have my preference. I just don't like any ///M logos on my non M car.
But they look great!

I like them as well. I agree I wouldn't want M performance either. Would these be decals?

Thanks everyone for the replies!! This is something I'm definitely working on- I've hooked up with a guy who does prototype parts for concept cars, so I'm interested in seeing where that goes.
As far as the //M logos, I just threw them on there, they wouldn't be there. I'm toying with either a full skirt replacement, or an "add on" style skirt that would mount on the bottom and sort of wrap up onto the side skirt body lines. The pair I've ordered to start the physical creations(just clay and foam sculpting to start) are on the way. Limited budget right now- but I'm trying. Being a designer at heart, I'm trying to maintain functionality while not making it over done. Still in the concept stages, but I'd like to see these come to fruition sooner than later. |

These look great! I think if you went into business (throw some on eBay, honestly) there would be a large market for them.
Also food for thought: look at making some front + rear diffusers after this project is done lol.

Ah, fancy aftermarket side skirts. Many have raised our hopes, all of them failed to deliver.
Not hating, just stating the truth. |

This looks amazing! One thing I would suggest, is using a little less carbon (more white) as it takes up the majority of the skirt!

I was contemplating doing this same insert design on the stock skirts only with 3M carbon fiber vinyl. No ///M decals though... My roof is already wrapped in carbon fiber and thought this would add some pop!

Would these be like the 2 series where there's a black vinyl sticker and then a thin splitter underneath that bolts to the stock side skirts? I'm definitely interested.

Any concept for the Jet Black models? I always see the nice things on the alpine white colors.

Still curious to see how this turns out. Should the finished product look like the picture you posted, I'm pretty positive you can count me in for a set...I've been looking for this for years. |

This is awesome and definitely something I would get into- cant tell you how many times I've gone looking for a replacement from the stock side skirts!
