From the bad to the better - new ride! *update*
I made an account a year or so ago to ask some questions but now it looks like I am back to stay as I just purchased an 08 135i.
My 04 330i zhp got smashed by a tree branch and totaled the car. Doesn't look like much but the stick stabbed 6-7 inches into my dash and caused electrical issues. So I decided to take the opportunity to upgrade into something newer and faster. I love the car! Plenty of power and great ride. I purchased a 2 year 24k extended bumper to bumper warranty from the dealer as well. Just stopping in to share my story and say hello! Also, i have the infamous rattle. I know the hpfp was replaced but pretty sure the turbo's are original and I'm at 75k miles. Any advice on this? Last edited by saace7; 08-05-2014 at 07:20 PM.. |

Welcome and congrats on your new ride. Is that black sapphire metallic or jet black? Can't tell for sure from the pics. The interior is coral red. Black sapphire metallic and coral red was the color combo on my first 135i. Whatever color it is it looks nice!

Really nice ride. Sorry to hear about the e46.
And as far as the wastegate rattle, you should still be able to get a replacement. Should be until ~8 years/82,000 iirc, but I'd contact your closest BMW to be sure. |

Thanks for the kind words. It was a real shame about the e46. Saddens me every time I see the pictures. A lot of time and money spent on that car. The 1er has all the options already into the car, power and handling. I'll probably leave it as is and just fork over the money for maintenance. Only thing I MIGHT change is the rims but the one's currently installed look really nice already!
Also, I decoded my VIN and it says I have the 135is. All the paper work I signed never mentioned anything about it. What features in the car can I look for to see if it's an "i" or "is" one thing I noticed is I have the "M" on my steering wheel. I'll contact my bmw dealer the next weekend I have off. Thanks for the info. |

That must be what it is then, the sport package. Like I mentioned before, I do have the "M" in my steering wheel, as well as it seems I have sport seats because they hold you in nice and snug, also the car seems to sit low with some rake. Not sure if there were previous suspension upgrades from a previous owner but i doubt it. |

Thanks everyone. It is a blast to drive. I miss my old 6mt but I'm getting used to the DCT and paddles. It's the best of both worlds! The power, handling and styling of the 1 series is just breathtaking. A head turner for sure.
Things on the list are to get maintenance in tip top shape then possibly exhaust and a tune. I don't need much. . . for now. |

Brought the car to my local bmw dealer for the rattling noise and got a call yesterday that it was indeed coming from the turbo's and it is all covered under warranty. Waiting on the next call on what all is going to be replaced. Glad to see its all being taken care of free of charge. The next thing I'll have done is intake cleaning. Most likely walnut blasting. Plugs are good. When I get the car back I'll check a few things then it will be time to mod. First new shocks/struts then I'm thinking exhaust and tune. From there I'll drive it til I'm bored and need more.
Will the bilstein from turner fit with stock springs or will I have to get after market? If not, OEM shock/struts will work too. Not really looking to lower the car as it sits really nice as it is but a .5 inch drop wouldn't be bad either. |
