Finally - Super bright LED Dome lights at fair price
Hope this will help others who are looking for bright dome light through my experience instead of wasting money.
I have gone through my share of ebay LEDs through the process of trial and error and much wasted $. But I have finally found a dome light that is super bright. I would say almost too bight if I didn't like bright lights! All pictures were taken in the garage on a sunny day time. Both interior pictures taken at ISO 1250, F2.7 1/20 point and shot camera. In the 3rd picture are the lights that I used before. Both bulbs 1 and 3 are bright, just not compared to bulb 2 with 18 cells. Bulb 1 has 2 SMDs on the bottom, and 1 on each side. It uses 5630 cells. I would estimate the color to be 6000K Bulb 3 has unknown specs but it was about same brightness as bulb 1 but whiter cool at 5000K. Lastly bulb 2 is what I just installed. It has 18 SMDs of 5630 cells. I bought the LED bulbs off Ebay, 2 lights for under $5. Just search for 18 LED 5630 Here are the pictures. |

I did mention that it's super bright.
If you want bright, but not too bright, I would suggest to go with bulb 1. Just search "5630 LED" and select the bulb with the # of SMDs http://www.ebay.com/sch/Parts-Access...0+led&_vxp=mtr You will find a bunch that looks like bulb #1. The more cells the brighter but the idea is to look for LEDs that use 5630 SMDs. |

This is how I did it
Yeah, they are super bright but I like it
You can see the individual LEDs because it is resting right on the cover. What I did is I use the existing double-side tape and cut it into 3 pieces. I then stacked them and made a 4 layer tall tape. It's 4 layers because my wife happen to have additional double-sided tape so I added one more layer. I then was able to push the light up and tape it to the the top so it is not resting on the cover, then you don't see the individual LEDs. I have attached pictures so you can see what I mean. I used tape about 1/3 size but to make it more stable, eg, stick edge to edge, you should use more take. Oh, put to the back cover on is the opposite of how you do the front. Click in the back first so its catching the edge then push the front in until they clip. Start from one corner to other. It's very easy should take a few seconds only. At least that's how I did mine. The first picture shows the light with double-sided tapes. You can see that its not resting low. the other 3 pictures shows how I layered the tape. Like I said, the more tape the more stable it is. So the style for bulb 2 is used for the front and back center lights. What did you use bulb 1 and 3 for?

you can use bulbs 1, 2 or 3 in both the front and rear doom lights. You will know what I mean if you open the dome light covers. Obviously bulb 2 was the brightest due to the # of cells. You can use bulbs 1 and 3 in the reading lights. there are 2 of those in the front
