So I know all about tuning and engine related topics but if theres an area Im lacking in its in suspension and wheels/tires. My stock run flats are finally giving out I'm looking for a new set of tires (replace all 4) as a replacement.

Currently I'm looking at the Michelin Pilot SS, any suggestions on size? Or other tire suggestions? I live in MD I'd say the weather is average, sunny humid rain sometimes.

Can't go wrong with them I have 225 Fronts and 245 rears the shoulders on these tires are alot more square then other brands te 245s look like other brands 255s I'm only lowering my car a half inch so next time ill try the 255s

From what I hear the Hankook Ventus and Continental ExtremeContactDW are two other great tire choices. I would run a 225/40/18 fronts and 255/35/18 rear. But like Zombie said, the PSS has that wider profiling and a 255/35/18 might rub. Alot of folks have done PSS on the official tire thread, scroll through there and you might see someone whose done the same thing you're considering.

I also assume you're on stock 18's w/ stock suspension?

Cool thanks guys, yea completely stock suspension other than a front sway which doesnt change anything, and stock 18's. Someone on the official thread recently did the same setup with 255's but with a bit of camber adjustments, I asked whether that was just preference or not.

So 225's fit fine on the front? I believe stock comes 215

225/255's work very well. Michelin PSS's are an excellent tire in everything but snow.

I was recently in this situation and may help the poster as well, but what are the benefits/draw backs from upgrading from 215s and 245s to 225s and 255s? I considered it just for look and grip, but was really paranoid about going anything other than stock sizes.

Are there any drawbacks from going one size wider? Possible risks, such as BMW dealer down the road refusing to cover something under warranty with some bs claim that it was caused by running larger tires than OEM?

Nothing too bad. It's not the exact same diameter, so your speedo will be slightly "off" even though it's not 100% accurate anyway. Steering feel might be a bit heavier with the 225s in the front.

When my RFs are done, I'll probably go 225/245 to attempt to balance out the handling.
