Also I am at a elevation of 5800 feet so I wan't to be sure a flash tune has been tested to work in my conditions. Terry at JB tuning was willing to take the time to make some adjustments and be sure my car is running good at this altitude. I came from subarus and did a lot of flash tunes (dyno protunes, road tunes, E-tunes, self tunes, etc). In the end I believe a flash tune is the way to go it just isn't as compatible or accesible at this point for the N55.

Ok just your original post sounded like you might have just gotten the jb3 and wanted to switch to a flash or maybe just about to buy it.
I can promise you if you contact them they will give you all the specifics for your area. Jerry is probably the best guy to talk to about that. They are the best guys out there man so if you're serious about wanting a flash, shoot them an email or call and tell um I sent you. It'll be worth your while. Plus they travel a crap load so they could easily be near you sometime soon. Always jet setting for tuning days. Last edited by UdubBadger; 03-17-2011 at 07:01 AM.. |

So much for the n55 being unbreakable and having to be bench loaded lol.

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm new to all this - what does a tune do to your gas mileage?

I can't speak for any other tunes but I have seen a 2-3 mpg boost after getting the Eurocharged tune put on. Now that being said I want to drive it harder so I'm probably getting WORSE mileage because I'm always flooring it but highway cruising you will easily see it go up and maybe a mpg in the city as well.

Previously i had a very promising stage 1 (flash tune only) and we thought that with the fmic + dp we would easily break the 400 hp. But the tuner told me that it seems the oem turbo is at its maximum : as you can see on the hp graph on my dyno, when 5000 rpm is passed, the hp drop slowly. I was the first, they will try with other cars to see if it's the same. To answer to shockin330i in my case the flash tune was not done by the obdII, but directly on the ecu (we had to take off the inlet manifold each time) |

I have been looking for upgrades/mods for my 2011 135i, but like you guys said not much out there. I am currently running a AFE drop in filter, JB stage 1and burger 10mm front and 12mm rear wheel spacers. For you guys out there on a budget and looking for a nice tune for their n55 the JB stage 1 was very easy to install, inexpensive with very very good results, the car now feels the way it should have from the factory could not imagine driving without this mod. Looking to install a 1 inch lowering kit and a larger FMIC anyone out there know where I can find these items?

Anyone running catless down pipes on their n55 135i? I ran a catless down pipe on my old subbie and felt like my low end suffered alot with this mod, but a 70 mph punch you could feel it, question! does the catless DP kill your low end grunt and improve your high end

to make sure everyone knows and ammend my statements a little bit, both times I've been flashed were via OBDII port. NEVER have I had to remove the ECU cover or anything of that sort. Jake's (an owner) mygenius flashing tool was used once and the other was done via Jerry's (another owner) laptop.

I will talk to Jake and Jerry and see what they say about how mine was actually done to make sure I'm not mistaken but I know the hood was never even popped let alone the ECU taken out.
