Ah, I see. Thanks.

So I'm bringing my car in on Monday for a 3rd visit in as many weeks, all for the long crank. '08 135i.

First visit: new software
Second: low pressure sensor replaced
Third: to be determined

If they replace my HPFP, will it say on the invoice that it's the 943? Should I ask for it by name when I bring it in? That seems kinda douchy, but I don't want another lemon.

Yes, you can ask. I've had two replaced, each at different dealerships. The first told me "No problem, I'll make sure it has the ### pump" (I forget the part number of the pump before the 943). The next time, when I asked for the 943 pump, this dealer told me "We don't have a choice. We have to put in what BMW says to put in. It doesn't relate to what's in stock or not- it is determined entirely by BMW." They did, in fact, install a 943 pump.

At any rate, both invoices had the part numbers on there.

Also, you should not worry about sounding douchy. 1) You're not going to be the craziest customer they see that day, 2) they have replaced SO MANY HPFP's that they know about the issue. Everyone does. They are used to people asking questions about this continuing saga.

Got the car back last week with the 943 pump and it has been running well up until a few days ago..Started it up yesterday and got a VERY rough idle..it almost sounded like the car was running on 2 cylinders and the car was shaking pretty tremendously..the revs eventually dropped down even lower and the car shut off...started it up again and the same thing happened..I gave it some gas and held the revs around 1500rpm for a minute and eventually the idle came back to normal..The same thing happened this morning..SES light came on as well

The 933 is a rebuilt HPFP not a new HPFP, that superceds the 943 HPFP. This is probably a cost cutting effort by BMW since they are replacing tens of thousands of HPFPs per year.
Hey TrackRat my car is going in with the #933 today. How do you know the 933 came out after the 943? Does that make it better and is it more reliable?
