Headlight replacement
Hello All,
I purchased an 2012 128i, with aftermarket headlights. It seems, the ones installed are some version of depos. They do not have an hid kit, but do have these glued on rings, which are really bright. I believe these rings are causing an error code; which goes off if I turn off and on the lights. These rings also flicker, which drive me nuts Could you guys steer me in the right direction to either getting a nice set of aftermarket headlights or would it better to just buy an oem halogen set? Although the halos look cool, I don't want to run into similar issues down the road. Nevertheless, I really just want the error code to go away (which goes away if I turn on and off the lights). In addition, I just developed condensation on the driver side so- So it gives me an excuse to replace them. Attached you will find the pictures of the lights and the internal set up. |

Eh, those rings look terrible.. I think having aftermarket headlights will always lead to one small issue or another. There's been many cases of condensation and flickering from aftermarket headlights.
I've got a set of OEM LCI halogen headlights for $400 shipped if you're interested. |

What's the gold box in the back of the headlight pic? Rings look extremely bright. Kind of similar to mine.
You definitely have a set of DEPO headlights. These don't cause errors by themselves so it's definitely the way the rings are wired. Not 100% how it needs to be wired though. I'm sure there is someone on here who's done DIY work on their lights. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=809467 I've got my old set of OEM Halogens from an 09' if your interested in switching back. They only have 14k miles on them. Located in the States.
