Wheres all the cams?
Ok first off: Sorry if this is a stupid question and/or its been discussed.
So where are all the aftermarket camshafts? IMO a hot cam is one of the best add ons you can do. They add so much H.P and higher RPM in some cases and there not that expensive. Why does nobody have aftermarket cams? Is shrick working on some for the N54/N55? Thanks for the help. |

High lift / duration cams aren't good for forced-induction cars, and even cams designed for turbocharged applications only give mild gains.
Our cars already have variable cam timing so really there just isn't any point. Sure the N55 may benefit from the variable lift (valvetronic), but its not going to make a massive difference. If anything the twinscroll turbo makes the biggest difference between our engine and the N55. That said, a nice race cam for the 130i N52 would be nice. |

In addition, the majority of US cars are still under warranty. Who's going to tear apart the engine on a car still fully backed by the dealer apart from dedicated race teams with factory backing?
