I want one of those retro BMW jackets!!
Evidently that LEATHER jacket is a one off made for Dr. Siegler, we were all drooling over it (the jacket) and he said it is not available.

Thank god its a manual. A specifically driver oriented car like this without one would be a joke.

dont get me wrong bud, i drove a z4 sdrive35is w/ DCT and it rocked and i loved it, but i think for a lot of people its a welcome move to have the 1M fitted with a 6 speed MT for now. for those who cant have MT or its not practical to drive stick, you have other choices...
can't wait to ED this bad boi next summer

Looks like the bonnet might have something interesting going on.

I'm almost positive there's nothing in that particular spot. I think the seam on the cover is giving that area more depth than there really is.

This car will be limited in numbers, with only a manual transmission available, and such a limited time of production (18 mos). People are going to be damn lucky to get this car from a dealer for less than $5,000 (or some significant number) over MSRP. If people remember the early E46 days, and how the dealers weren't even letting people test the cars without putting money down. It was not pretty. With this car, I predict there will be similar issues.

The other issue not mentioned yet is the availability of a convertible. With BMW limiting its production to 18 months, and no DCT, I forsee them not producing a convertible. This will make this car very much like the E30 M3 was, with only limited options available in a manual transmission 2 dr coupe.

No DCT and no convertible means it'll be easy to find one used I was looking for an E46 M3 at one point and all you find here in SoCal is convertibles with SMG...no thank you.

They have built a Cabrio prototype as well as using regular 135i cabrio with the same details as seen in the original 135i based 1M prototypes.

They are looking at it as per the Cabrio will be around to 2013 so BMW would like to prolong the car.
And there are key markets for an M Cabrio.

The 1M will be on display at the M Power Day @ Miramas next week, although you will not get to drive it or see anymore of what you have seen.

for some reason im not impressed about this 1M. ive seen some great 135i that has similar power as the 1M on this site. The body looks similar as the 1 series except they changed the bumper and added quad exhaust.

well no DCT means I'll be looking elsewhere, everything else about the car is exactly what I'm looking for... quite the dissappointment

Its obvious that this car was rushed to production and will be lacking certain options that everyone would like, but with the e92 M3 shelf parts to use, it's probably going to be one of the best "rush" projects possible. I think we should all be grateful that an M1 is being produced to begin with.

On a side note, I think that this car will publicly/unofficially be known as the M1 because of the logical naming in line with the 3,5,6 and people tend to be lazy and like things easy. Especially us Amerikans!

Ah, nothing like the trying to fabricate a sense of exclusivity through purposefully low production numbers.

Oh well.

Looks like that car cover is designed to unzip a piece at a time and do small reveals.. Looks good so far!

they also said next years M3 will have a new Stop/Start feature where the car will automatically shut off the engine while stopped at a red light, and then when you push the gas it starts up again and goes...

this sounds pretty stupid to me and their reason is even dumber, because apparently BMW enthusiasts want better mpg with the M3. i'm sorry, but if you are buying an M3 it's not for the gas milage, and if you're really that worried about it then you shouldnt be buying one.

maybe i'm upset because there was so much hype this week and we didnt get to see much. i must concede that it is great marketing. they plan on revealing it piece by piece around the world at different events with the final piece coming off at the Detroit Auto show. i am still really excited for this car and cannot wait to hear some REAL details
I fly up north to attend the car show with my father every year. We started going to the chicago show the past couple years but might have to go back to detroit this year.

And.. if M3 wheels fit.. all aftermarket M3 wheels will fit. If you ever looked, tirerack has nothing worth mentioning for the 135i. They have tons of nice wheels for the M3.
