Yes . Mainly for boost monitoring. I am not interested in it because it can't hook it back to a computer and analyse the data.

I must be missing something... it's a gauge! The degree of tuning that is doable on the 1er hardly warrants such attention to a gauge?!?

I can understand if you ware tuning boost for a T04z with a big 60mm gate via a Motec or something but aren't most of you guys just using standard turbos with piggy-back computers that leverage OEM hardware for boost control / smoothing?

Maybe I'm missing something here, but the only thing I see as being groundbreaking is that it gives certain piggy-back users the ability to switch maps.

Well in terms of map switching JB4 and Procede can already do that on the fly

You must be thinking of the v1 gauge... that was old school...

The new gauge does a bit more since we are talking on canbus...
- Coolant Temp, Intake Air Temp, Exhaust Gas Temp
- Ignition Timing, RPM, Throttle Blade Position
- Actual (uncorrected) speed, 0-60mph (0-100kph) performance timer
- Extended BMW Code reading and clearing (no laptop needed!)

I made this gauge because I own a 135i for my personal car and I wanted something that showed me everything I cared about without needing a laptop or a $400 bavtech tool, and looked OEM

But don't listen to me... I am probably trying to sell something.

P3 Australia

Thanks to everyone from the first RHD group buy who helped make a RHD version of this gauge possible!

Rick's gauge is the bomb. I'm fairly sure people realise I don't gush about things if they aren't good.

I think this could be one of the first few times I have seen you say that about a product.

More reason for me to get it!

What's the difference between a V2 and the V2.1?

Compared with:

- High-resolution boost/Vacuum display
- Vacuum tubing for ACTUAL n54 manifold pressure- Peak Recall for all modes
- 15 second "run record" record/playback- Battery voltage display
- Precisely color matched to BMW interior lighting
- One-touch manual dimmer or auto dimmer using dimmer line
- 2 Universal 0-5v analog inputs for Meth/AFR/Etc.
- Optional Boost(on digits)/Meth(on bargraph) combo display
- Plug and Play - includes all installation parts
- Optional "PLUS" version comes pre-installed in OEM Vent
- "On the fly" config menu for user settings:
- Lockout/Display off mode
- Configurable Auto or Manual dimmer
- English(PSI) or Metric(BAR) selection
- Adjustable boost display resolution (1psi 0.5psi or 0.1psi)
- Vacuum Bargraph enable/disable
- Enable/Configure optional analog inputs
- Ambient Calibration for boost sensor
- Enable Meth flow/Boost-Meth combo display
- Low profile plug and play obd2 port connector, completely hidden
- Power and ground taken from obd2 port - no extra wiring needed
- Optionally read Boost/Vaccum via Canbus (great for n55 cars!)
- Coolant Temp, Intake Air Temp, Exhaust Gas Temp
- Ignition Timing, RPM,Throttle Blade Position
- Actual (uncorrected) speed, 0-60mph(0-100kph) performance timer
- Extended BMW Code reading and clearing (no laptop needed!)
- User installable software updates

The bits in bold are the ones I'm worried about...

Nothing wrong with asking some questions... Just because he hasn't listed the features doesn't mean his one doesn't have them.

Also: Both versions are software upgradeable so perhaps some of the lacking features can be added... (yes, I realise that the wiring cannot be upgraded via software)

If I can help out a fellow forum member by taking it off his hands rather than letting it sit there gathering dust...

The differences in 2.1 will not affect the consumer unless you have a 2007 model car as it no longer supports that platform. The 2.1 has a different CAN chip, different LED driver and also allowed P3 to make an analogue only version. The main reason for the changes was due to some parts being hard to source and this allowed P3 to build up some stock in their inventory. The changes will not affect the average consumer.

Go ahead and order if you haven't already. I'm happy to support this product and I'm confident it will surpass your expectations. Also, Kenny has given this product a lot of praise, which speaks for itself.

Angus - I'll come over and help you install your gauge when it arrive and you can help me install my LCI's at the same time

The only thing for me from Rixster's reply is that it still connects to the OBD-II, which uses the k-line can-bus which is no good for logging more than a few parameters. However, as a gauge, it is more than plenty.

FYI PM from Rick

"Functionally similar, but the hardware is completely new... New processor, new display board, new canbus fuctions that allow the gauge to work with JB4.(old gauge didn't work with newest jb4 firmware because jb4 would flood the bus, we switched to faster chips to be able to handle the extra traffic)
new mounting bracket (old one was prone to breaking, new one is aluminum and very sturdy)

Big differences behind the scenes as we made changes for ease of production and enhanced compatibility, but most people wouldnt notice the difference after its installed."

I like the upgrades on the new ones so will have to pass up the old v2.

I'm using JB4 latest firmware with v2.0 gauge and it works flawlessly.
