The speed-limit discussion comes up every year long as i can remember. Fortunately there is no mayority for this in our parliament and won't be anytime soon.

If so, I looove that woman. Plus, whos got a higher CO2 emissions than the U.S.??

There are many, many countries worse than us, per capita. Drive through any Slavik country and see all the factories still pumping out raw untreated waste smoke. They still burn their trash in a lot of countries.

The Czech Republic is getting better, but I can remember that they line their border with factories, because the smoke would mostly go into Germany. Once the border opened up, and the two countries had to have relations, things started to change.

I do wish that there was as much government influence in emissions from other sources than the automobile industry. There's far, far worse polluters out there. I'm also sick of the fights against wind turbines. Seems as though everybody has that "not in my back yard" mentality,as they are on their couches watching their 65" plasma tv in air conditioned comfort, all provided by a coal burning power station a hundred miles away, creating more pollutants and in a day (in the form of CO2, sulfuric acid, etc.) than all the cars in a major city can produce in weeks.

Electric generating plants are responsible for nearly 40% of the total pollution in this country...

So, why should I buy a 128?

Hello beamer fans...I'll tell you why. Because its' body lines are unique and it is unlike the fatter-looking 3's. I've been somewhat dissappointed in the "new look" since BMW went puffy afew years ago. Look at that Z4. It's like the Z3 stopped excercising and poof. Fat city. Anyone agree? I like the clean look of the 1's. But, if BMW puffs this model up before I get to write 'em MY check (maybe next spring if I get a buyer for the musky) I will pass and maybe just buy a 2002-ish coupe with low miles and be done with it.

Nothing officially has been decided. Check back Feb or March.

Why not? Beside 4 door vs. 2 door, what is the difference in performance if you load same options on both such as: Premium, Sport and Navi?

So the question is: Would people get 135 over 335 sedan with the same options above for the same price?
Myself, I won't get the 135 until I can bargain at the base invoice (..$32100? )+ ~$1k, so that it can bring the price with these options below $40k.

Just my 2c.

Well, once you sit in both "2002-ish" and this 135 and you'll see. It will finally come down to performance, not the look. I buy the car to drive, not to look. E46 coupe is a no-no to me compared to the E82 135 unless it is a M3, but then M3 is in different league.

Wow, I came late to the party over here (18 pages :eyebulge. Well, I stayed away from here and the BMW website for a while- there wasn't any news so why get myself so worked up. I went on the BMW site this week and saw that you could now price the car and I am disappointed.

It wouldn't be so bad if it was just the base price, but BMW is unique among the luxury/premium brands. What you pretty much expect as standard in this range BMW makes optional. Heck, vinyl seats are standard (outside of work trucks you can't even get vinyl seats from most manufacturers anymore- let alone on high end makes). To get the basic equipment I want in this type of car, and what most others have standard, puts me at around $34K for a 128i (less than $2K less than a comparably equipped 328i).

So, if I stay premium I guess I'll be going with a 328i (especially with the really nice lease deals), an Acura TL (or TSX if I really want the smaller sportier version) or an Infinity G35 or G37. Heck, I'm a teacher and 37 years old (hopefully I'll be thinking about family transportation within a couple years anyway) so the 328, G35 or TL probably makes more sense anyway. The 220 HP in the 328i seems pretty nice to me even with the greater weight since I'll be coming out of a 2003 325 with 184hp (the 328 seems plenty powerful for me when they give me one as a loaner when I bring my 325 in for work). I may even take a look at the V6 Accord myself (the new design looks pretty nice) or V6 SE Camry (too bad Honda and Toyota won't let you get a stick shift with the V6 though).
