Squeaky Armrest?

Does anyone else have a squeaky center console armrest on their 128i Coupe? Is there anything that can be done about it?

Yep, had it since day one. Dealer says it's normal of course. There have been alternative fixed such as placing a small piece of 3m tap in between the two pieces.

I gave the plastic hinge a shot of plastic safe lubricant twice and that solved it.

Thanks for the quick replies. I just assumed it was the hinge, but maybe it is the two pieces rubbing together. I'll check it out.

Mine comes and goes. Dealer did a "fix" (lubrication) about 1 year ago, but still there. Seems to be more in the hinge than the lid.

There is an SIB on this for 08-09 cars I believe. Dealer stopped the squeak for me.

Mine suddenly went into "super squeaky mode" yesterday morning. The worst I've ever heard it. Before it was subtle enough to ignore with music or driving with the windows down. But yesterday was brutal. This morning wasn't too bad, but still more noticeable than usual. I think it has to be temperature related, because the temps here dropped about 20 degrees and suddenly my armrest got loud.

Combine this with that annoying dashboard pop, one noisy ride.

Yeah the only thing my 1er loves about the cold is the Engine. Other than that it seems to squeak in places that it normally doesn't especially the brakes, they only stop squaking after warming up. Short drives forget about it.
