This is how the seats should come from factory (or at least as option), drooling !

Were the white threads dyed or are they re-threaded in orange?

Hm, let me guess, Aussie got his inspiration from forum fellow mikrotom:
"I totally refuse to pay hundreds or thousands of EUR just to have proper orange stitching. So i decide to use basic textile pen and colour existing white stitches this way. And voila - it works like charm! Trying to remove color with hot water or mechanicaly without success."

BMW Performance seats are only manual but they can be equipped with the heated front seats option. I think they are pre-wired for that. So these seats miss the power/memory seats function in addition to power shoulder bolsters of the standard seats and the stand alone option "lumbar support".

Of course, you won't need any of those with the Performance Seats and will be a happier man

Thanks for the response, I can live without electrical adjustment but not without seat memory function as the wife is much smaller than me I really want those seats, I guess I should have looked for a wife the same size right. Ah well too late to change her now haha

My wife and I both drive the car, she is approx 5"4 and I 5"11, she is able to see over the steering wheel so that's all that matters lol you do have to height settings that needs to be set up prior to fitting, I opted for the lower of the 2 otherwise it is back and forth in movement set up. Saying that, we are taking a trip to Habitat and buying her a small suede cushion to give her some height boost if she ever needs it

When I was 15 (and not yet the 5"11/180cm I finally became), for safety reasons, they shoved a couple of so-called 'lead cushions' (ballast weight) under my seat inside gliders to meet minimum pilot weight requirements, more particularly to avoid the glider from stalling (i.e. the rear dropping backwards in flight). I guess your wife would take that as a compliment, because it means that she's a light-weight woman. It has been ages since I last flew those things, but sometimes when driving my car think back, with some nostalgia, about the secure feeling of a tight fit inside those bucket seats with seat belt harness.

I could consider my wife 50kg of race ballast when she is in the passenger seat and have asked her to remove herself form the passenger seat of our track day car in the past when I was after more weight reduction, hmmmm but what about when she is driving and I weight in at 100kg lol A suede cushion from Habitat, we will leave it at that .....

A man and a textile marker does the job spot on, and as close as a match as you can get

The orange marker came out really well, couldn't believe how well it looks. It's not far off mine where Recaro used Kyalami Orange thread when the seats were made.

Jezzer, you should convince Recaro to do more of those, via your business maybe; would get a whole bunch of customers I bet.

I am sure Jez inquired about more being done but Recaro came back saying it was a one off. Anyways get a good textile pen and you will not notice a difference to be honest when matching with the rest of the orange stitch, and in turn saving a few £££ $$$...........
