On a side note, AR Downpipes are THE best downpipes on the market. The rest are crap... Go AR!!!

I highly recommend AR downpipes also... best fit for Australian models with the least fitment issues. I can't really comment on the rest as I have not used all of them, but AR are very good. If I had used the others I would be better placed to comment on them.

Kenny doesn't believe in aftermarket airboxes for the N54... don't get him started on that topic!

I'm considering changing back to stock for the summer, although I'm fond of the induction noises it makes.

I don't blame him, I can't see the real world performance gains from some of the twin cone intakes with no heat shield. Dyno yes, hood down and driving hard no.

Sure its a fair point with the bms twin cone when increasing the boost and the short neck design to free up the workload.

Personally I dont rate how it sits. However I do live in the nanny state

I am still running the stock airbox in my car. Before I went to the drag strip I had Adrian of Vishnu Australia do back to back dyno runs at Advan Performance with stock airbox, no airbox and with Vishnu DCI.

The results show the Vishnu DCI offers virtually no restriction over no filter at all and about a 5 rwkw advantage over the stock airbox (all at the very top of the RPM range).

My personal belief is that the OEM airbox is the superior option for a daily driver in Sydney's heat, but there are gains to be had for a drag racing event.

The induction noise is very noticeable with the DCI on.

I took it off the next day and put the stock airbox back on.

For a daily driver the PROs of a DCI are induction noise. The CONS are they are not very attractive looking and are a red flag to any police inspection under the bonnet.

If you dig the sounds then I'd say go for it, as long as you don't find it ugly. Personally I want every last bit of performance so I stick to OEM airbox for daily driving.

I did notice the closed box afe intake however can't find many reviews. I do like how the afe intakes in general uses the stock snorkel etc

AFE is virtually the same as the DCI except it has a heathshield, costs more money and doesn't make as much noise.

Personally I think when running extra boost, having the car breath better outways any slight increase in temps from running a DCI setup.
I found the noise quite loud the first time I drove the car but now I honestly can't hear it.
With meth adding extra cooling I'm happy with the DCI setup. I know some people don't like the looks but I don't spend much time under the bonnet!

For the last 750 RPM at WOT with the bonnet open on a dyno, yes. So for a drag meeting it is a goer. For daily driving I am convinced the stock airbox will outperform, especially in summer.

Consider: are you maxed out FBO with downpipes, methanol kit and tune ... and if so are you running at WOT at 6000+ RPM? If not then you're probably going to lose power in daily driving in summer.

My opinion only, highly contentious topic.

Hey Guys,

I was there with the testing on Kenny's car. Just wanted to make it clear. The restriction in the stock air box is all in the lid. If you simply unclip the lid of the stock air box, you get the same gains as a DCI.... but you are sucking in unfiltered air. The DCI is simply the cheapest way to get those same gains while still filtering the air. As to what is better for a street car.... different horses for different courses. The DCI noise did not bother me, but it may bother some people. There is no doubt in my mind that there is a power benefit from running an upgraded the intake, but it is marginal and at very high RPM as reported by Kenny.

Hey Kenny, can you get that DCI setup back to me sometime??
