Can't keep traction?

Hello everyone!

So lately the biggest thing that has been bothering me is that all that power seems so useless on the car lately. If I floor it anywhere above 3k rpm my car just does a full on burn out, second gear is a little better but still there is a lot of slip.

Where are the wider aftermarket wheel options? A car with as much power as a tuned 135, especially since our cars are so light, should defintely have much wider tires than the stock width we have, right? I am thinking I wouldn't be happy with anything less than at least 275 in the rear. Is there anything like that out there reasonably priced?

Are you looking for straight-line traction or in the twisties? A wider tire would provide a wider contact patch, but not a longer nor necessarily a larger one.

My 255 PS2's are significantly better than the stock rfts.

Still are 255 wide enough to efficiently ground 400whp? If you floor a Z06 it will slip a bit but it won't do a complete burnout like mine would. Do you guys think just upgrading the tires will make the difference or wouldn't it be necessary to try and get some nice tires on a 275 rear.

I think I read some where on here that someone custom ordered their rims and their width was around 265 I think and the company assured him it would fit, what happened with that? I couldn't find the thread

That depends on the tire pressure. It would seem to me that to maintain the optimum contact patch a wider tire should be running at slightly lower pressure than the factory tires.

I've looked around for something that shows the calculation involved for optimum tire pressure for a given size and weight of vehicle, but haven't been able to find anything.
