Front Brake Pads Service Indicator
Hi, I had my front brake pads replaced a few months ago at a independent workshop in Parra and have done about 3500km on the new pads since then. The service indicator was showing 50000km till next front brake pad change and is still showing that after a few months, does it take a while for a new set of pads to register any wear on the service indicator or do i have a problem. Thanks.

It'll drop in increments of 5000km. My pads wore in 47000km and that was with hard, hard driving and braking.
I'm guessing the computer/sensor is spot on! |

If not, they probably just yanked out the old one and dummied the system. Don't ask me how I know.. |

You can leave them unplugged, then access the Easter Egg service menu (http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=415111) and then reset the brake service interval. |

hmmm, I took mine to get the brake fluid + service @ 45k, my mechanic says my front rotors are almost ready for replacement.. pads are fine though.
I need to take a look myself.

You need to reset the "Service Due lights DIY". Just go to the DIY section here and reset the lights.

I only started to notice the brake pad wear count down from about 24K kms. I am not sure what happens when the pads (& sensors!) are replaced and reset. Within a few weeks I will replace my brake rotors, pads and sensors... so I can let you know! lol
Perhaps you should read it thru the OBD-II port via a BT scan tool. I think that will tell you more. Pulling a wheel off and looking at the sensors might be also a good idea. The front sensor is on the LF and on the RR for the rear pads. Dackel |

Yup! One sensor (LF) for the front pads. And one sensor (RR) for the rear pads. I know my dealer told me that when you replace teh sesnors... there is a small "window" where you can use my DIY to reset the pad wear lights. IF you continue to drive past this open window... you will need to take your car to a dealer (or maybe use a BT cable) to reset the BC. |
