Covered in warranty?

My car was parked way uphill and a friend of mine accidently pushed the door down really hard cause the moron thought we were parked downhill. Anyway, the part of the door with the lock peeled forward, not really broken but pried off. When I unlock the doors a weird whine comes from this side. Would warranty cover this kinda stuff?

Any help is appreciated.

Take it to the dealer and ask. I think it might be covered unless it's obvious your friend abused the lock.

Warranty should not cover this because it was misuse but you might luck out and they might cover it if you ask nicely enough.

Not so much about the lock, the whole column came forward. It doesn't look deliberate. I'm thinking if I should just tell them it happened on its own.

tell them a gust of wind slammed it open while you were getting out of your car and you are appalled that such a normal natural phenomena would be able to break such a high quality vehicle.

I know that if you said that to a Porsche dealership, that it would not be covered. "Acts of God" are not covered.

Wouldn't "act of God" be more like flooding, tornado, black ice, lightning.

A simple gust of wind...would they really try to weasel out?

Why should they REALLY COVER IT? You put it so well yourself, your friend who you described as a moron broke it.

Now you want someone else, e.g. BMW, to pay for his mistake and your lapse in judgement for letting your friend near the car.

It's worth a try.

Back in January, when my 330i was 1 1/2 month old, I found the driver side chromed grill had some small and subtle peel offs. I took it back to dealer, and they replaced and installed it for free because I told the service adviser the grill was defective. The grill would had costed me ~$40 if I had to buy a new one and install myself. Of course at the time I was being nice.

Umm..my lapse in judgement for letting my friend near my car. I mean your right I should tell all my friends to just stay the hell away from my car if were going out to lunch. I mean jeez I wouldn't wanna drive him! I'd rather make him walk and meet me there. Also, yes I think BMW should pay for it. It's not like I need an entire new door. A simple repair job using some of their spare parts should'nt cost me tons of money that they like to charge.

Well, let's see. You called him a ,,moron`` in your post so it´s up to you whether you let him or others near your car. That part of my comment was simple sarcasm. But BMW is not obligated to repair the damage your friend occasioned. If they are nice enough to either reduce or eliminate the bill, you will simply be very lucky. But there is no justification for a warranty repair based on your description of this.

This has to be one of the most absurd posts I have ever seen. You break something - ok your moron friend breaks it for you - and you think BMW should warranty the repair. Wow, hopefully you will never have to be responsible for your own actions when you grow up.

It's not like I need a new damn door you fucking retard. I asked a simple question. It's not a big deal for precious BMW to do some labor. No parts needed chances are. All you nerds try to do is ridicule people and create arguments. If you don't have an answer to my question or do not want to offer help, shut the fuck up and go back to your own shit. It's a damn forum not a battleground.

This is great. I am so glad you proved my point. You can't even observe the rules of the forum here so why should we expect you to not try to cheat the BMW dealer. "It's not a big deal" - well, apparently, everyone should work for you.

No one ridiculed you. In fact, you ridiculed your friend the "moron".

If you post, you better be prepared for the answers.

Of course, the moderators will probably ban you for your post anyway but it was good to see your true colors.

Didn't mean to get that pissed, but I don't know what's gone wrong with people here. Everyone is just out to prove the next guy wrong and feel accomplished by making a statement. We're all here to have fun, solve issues, and find out stuff about the car that brings us together in the first place.

What is the deal with the unconstructive comments on this forum?? Not to point any fingers (Jean), but some of you people really have a thorn in your side! We aren't here to judge other people. We are here to offer help, knowledge, and support. If you get off on rebuking people, maybe you should go lecture your kids about something or other. If you really feel moved enough to reprove another forum user, do so with tact and back off. No one needs a chaperone on this board. Especially not ones like these.

Before you start opining about other people's situations, maybe you should examine yourself. Get a life!

And even though we should all understand and empathize with others positions (and not be easily offended at off-color remarks), bad language does strain credibility and constrict compassion.

Tell them how it is, ask nicely. This isnt a hard question. Do you want people to lie to your face rest of your life? NO! Then state an example, be honest! FFS..

This wouldn't be a warranty concern as it was "helped" out by your friend. These kind of warranty claims just drives up the price of vehicles.

This isn't a big issue...just say the door swung open and this happened can you fix it? If not under warranty then dont argue and pay.

Everyone just take a deep breath. Lifes too good to get upset over the little things...Come on we are all driving BMW's.
