Hi Guys,

The mechanic performed a electronic diagnostic and said that my 118i (E87) 02/2005, had a

1. ECCentric Shaft Fault

Does any one know what this means..........and what causes this and what impact this may have......the engine runs fine but the transmission slips when transferring from 1st to 2nd and then catches up and drives.....can this be the cause of ECC Shaft Fault or am I being aske to pay for something that I dont want......

they recon will cost me $2000+ to fix the ECCentric Shaft Fault........what are they trying to fix here.......

Is there any way I can buy extended warranty......

Yes I did ask these questions in Australia and other forums too around the world to guage the issues with these cars,,,,,,,and the best solution was to get rid of it after analysing that these were common problems........to be honest......I sold it at dirt cheap price but I am getting much better sleep now that it does not sit in my garage.......

The repair cost were like

Vanos $2000
Oil leak already spent $1200....still leaks
auto Gear box $2000- $7000

mind you i read somewhere 118i using Hyundai Genisis gera box......

Dont have one so even if BMW want to repair them as goodwill ...cant take the offer...

May be BMW should give me one to test drive their new ones.....
