I just had my top replaced under warranty to address the known defect where holes were wearing through on both sides. I was cleaning the rear window and noticed something that I hadn't seen before and would like someone to check theirs and tell me if it's the same. As I look through the window from the outside, along the bottom where the rear window meets the deck (on the inside) there are 2 8inch strips of black felt that look glued on. As I said, I don't remember seeing those before and I just want to make sure that they did the install correctly. Could someone check for me? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the top replacement club. I'm on my third. One for the holes and two for the defroster. Can't say I've noticed what you're describing. Like mentioned above....pics would help.

My '08 128i 'vert had the top fix done back in July,2009. It also has the two pieces of felt but each one is only about 2.5 to 3 inches in length.
Apparently, it's done the trick as the OEM top remains perfect after 34,000 miles. Tom |
