I stuffed mine in there around everything the first time I installed them. They ended up falling behind the actuator and blew out the motor and igniter and light. Very expensive fix. So i went to the hardware store and got a foot of Velcro for $.99. I velcro'd them to the cover. They've held really good. I checked them a few weeks later and the Velcro didn't melt and didn't come off either the lid or the ballasts. I thought for sure with how hot they get it was going to end up melting.

So they are working good? I found a pic of my ballasts velcro'd. This is in the back housing right behind where the bulb screws into the housing.

Wow that takes up a lot of space. No wonder they have to be secured.
