HP Autowerks takes top spot in Las Vegas Redline Time Attack

Las Vegas, NV, April 25, 2010

HP Autowerks entered their third Redline Time Attack with a vengeance.
After a disappointing outing at the first RTA event of 2010 at
Buttonwillow, HPA got to work improving every aspect of their BMW 335i
Sedan in preparation for Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After many upgrades
which included suspension, cooling, and aerodynamics, the car was ready
to compete. HPA driver Jeff Tyler was at a disadvantage having never
driven the course, but after many hours of preparation, Jeff was ready
to tackle the challenge. HPA came out posting consistently low times in
qualifying, which landed them the #1 grid spot. With a best time of
1:48:285, HPA secured the first place spot in the Street RWD class, and
third overall in Street. HPA was only .794 shy of the overall Street
winner. HP Autowerks looks forward to Autoclub Speedway to defend their
podium finish.

Onboard video:

Overall, a fairly low/medium-speed track with a medium/high-speed section at the end of the back straight. We were doing a little over 130mph at the end of the back straight, and about 125mph on the front straight. Very technical though, with lots of 'compromise' corners that made it fun for the drivers!

Congratulations! The radiator mod is for the transmission or what for? Is it stick or step?

Suspension is nothing special, all the parts used are listed in the OP.

Radiator for manual cars will be available first by summer time.

I see the same components as last year though, IIRC. Just wondering what you tweaked in terms of settings.

...unless of course they're Top Secret.

The settings are vehicle specific, what works on our car don't always work on another. However, having all those components listed will be a very good starting point.

We did adjust the wheel rates, took some weight out, and added a wing & splitter.

If you look at video of me driving the car (see our most recent Buttonwillow test and Las Vegas TA), there is almost no oversteer now. Before the suspension adjustments, it was a drift car!
