Even though I have a Steptronic, I think that gear 2 has the best overall coverage of power & torque. My 2nd gear has a lot of pulling power, much more than my old e46 323's 2nd gear that did not have very much low down oomph at all. So I vote 2nd gear, be it a MT or AT.

I voted 4th - because I can kick a 330i's ass in overtaking in that gear...i've tried it. Even by the time they change down to 3rd to swoop past me, I'm long gone!!! whooohoooo

What your favorite gear (manual driver).
I drive a manual and I find that gear 2 and 3 are just sweet when you punch the gas pedal. 2 and 3 can really pull the 330. Not bad for a 4 doors. How about those of you with manual shift, do you concur?

Well, I could almost do the whole track in 3rd gear, so there it is.
