Did anyone besides Bimmerista register for the BMW driver training? I'll need to confirm closer to the date, but I'm wondering if I'll end up not being able to get in if I leave it too late??

Due to unfortunate locational problems (vacation) I HAVE signed up for the Advanced II (the full day course) on June 4, but could not sign up for the Perfection I course , which is given on a date during my vacation. So I'l have to wait until next year to Perfect myself.

June 4 people - work with me here

The courses fill-up relatively fast, but at this point it is still early on in the game. By end of April I would imagine it getting full(er).

Actually.......

Well never mind; suffice it to say that she approves of the concept of me improving my driving skills.

Hi everyone,

I m planning to put my summer tires on during the first days of april....

I didn t own a GTI...just a regular VW golf (2.0l 115hp)
The new GTI is great...I drove it twice

The turbocharged engine is impressive.....you don t need to highrev it to have a quick response and a strong acceleration

but the handling is just not comparable to the e90...especially in curves...the bmw is so stable !!!

I think the best car ever will be this 335i twin turbo...i wonder how much it will cost....any idea?

Hmmm, this is coming from the man who changed to winters in January I think I'll wait until the third of April. Ssam, you must be a very good driver; with my driving and summer tires I would have surely flown off one of our bridges by now

Interesting remark about the GTI-the engine is the same (only not transverse mount) as the A4 2.0. Handling-wise it will be hard to beat the 3.

Cannot wait for the e92 intro and the intro and full review of the 335 engine. I am skeptical of turbos bcs I HATE turbo lag, for this reason I was disappointed at the old A4 1.8t engine; but if BMW can get rid of it....well then I am a fan again.

My mother just picked up her A3 with the 2.0T engine. I know exactly what you mean about the power being there even at low revs. I love that car for its engine, but the E90 is still a far superior car in pretty much every sense of the word.

I would love to see which one would come out ahead on the track (A3 or 325i).

It looks like the E92 is going further upmarket than the E46 coupe, so the 335 twin turbo is probably going to be $$$$. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I think that the 325 will always behave better than the frontie A3

As for the pricing of the 335 coupe I agree, I am afraid it will be priced closer to the old m3, with the 9eventual0 sedan priced lower than the coupe but still more than 330. So I will guess that 335 sedan will start at $54k.

I tried a Civic Sedan today for fun, and it handles the bumpy Lachine roads WAY better than my 325 with runflats, which seems to bottom out if it even looks at a bump. The manual shifter is shorter than the BMW and the clutch is shorter too. Amazing car for 20k!

Haha... they'll have your picture up soon. Don't you end up getting bombarded with annoying "follow-up" calls?

I've been wanting to test drive the new 911.

A 911 test drive-now that is a test drive, not some Civic waiting to be pimped

By the way, Stew did you get spacial disorientation when looking at the dash, and does the Civic really have a flux capacitor ?

Strangely, no, I give these guys numbers and everything, but I also say,"We're looking to change (fill in the blank), in the fall, when (whatever will need changing), is coming due (or needs changing or goes off-warranty)". That way they know that I need the knowledge, but can't change yet. I also look a bit like I can afford it, so that helps, even if it isn't true!

It's a cool dash, definitely DIFFERENT, but who could imagine that it will last 5 model years??????? I was most impressed by the clutch and shifter. If that were the action on the Bimmer I would have taken the manual, not the step.

The 911? I would have to work up to that one. For now, the most expensive test-drive I have done is the 545, and that was with a "friendly"...the guy I bought my Bimmers from.

Maybe I should do that, eh? Start cozying up to a 911 salesman until he's begging me to test drive one????? That's the way I do it.

Interesting-you can start by asking for used 911s and new Boxters and work your way up.

Funny, but I remember Japanese clutch action to be an all or nothing affair I never got used to. When we got rid of the Inegra I was very happy (changed it for the A4) and again I really like the clutch in the e90.

The old Civic gears were OK to change, but a little rubbery (even though very good gate-actions for that price range).

As for the suspension, I am very surprised to hear that your stock xi suspension also bottoms out - mine has once this winter (when I popped the tire) but I have the Sports Package.

Good tip.....I guess the guantlet has now been thrown!!

I think the bottoming out is the RFT All Seasons in anything below minus 5 weather. Saturday night was warm, and I drove downtown for the hockey game, and never once did they bottom out. Then today, in -7 they did again.....so I think it's a RFT issue.

So the tires get all stiff under -7 ? Very possible, certainly mine are stiffer than I remember non-RFT winters to be-but I think this is what saved my rim from THE pothole that claimed my tire
