yea but where in the hell am i going to get another seat belt!
I own new cars only so Im not cutting them out..Im an electrician and cutting a wire is easier to replace than a seatbelt itself! U can always connect the wire back when u sell it its not that big of a deal buddy..If uve ever installed your own stereo u would see what i mean! I always take my stereos back out when I sell my car..rewire the stock or another cheaper one back in! A wire is like a shoe string if it breaks tie it back together its that easy...So at that note I think Im going to do a little schematic hunting and see if thats the wire for sure and ill post back with the results..the most that could go wrong is its the wrong wire and it doesnt go off so reconnect the wire and cut another... |

As a health care professional at a major trauma center in San Diego I had seen plenty of motor vehicle accident victims survive roll over collisions and cheated death simply by wearing a belt. Good luck with your mod and I pray that you are never involved in any kind of collision.
Here's a vid of a driver being ejected from his car during a high speed chase. Graphic footage....NWS Roll Over MVA...Ejected occupant Looking at your photos it's obvious that the buckle was cut and taken from another vehicle. Either way it's not wise to drive with outh "buckling up".

This is a mod I would NEVER do. Not only do i like to perserve my life, but i love how the seatbelt tucks me in, and holds me in place.
Mayb its just cuz i grew up with it wearing at all times, so its only natural for me to do so. |

Well I live in Southern California, the land of too manny cars, and work for the Fire Department and have seen way to manny needless deaths including one of our firefighters too recently to think about it that was totally preventable if he was wearing his seat belt. If you don't wear your seat belt your are frankly very foolish and will ultimatly commit suicide buy not wearing it. Sorry to preach....

While I always wear a seatbelt, would be nice to disable the passenger side when I have something heavy on the seat. I routinely put 20-40 pounds on that side of stuff I'm moving around that triggers the seatbelt warning. I wish you could buy just an extra belt buckle to insert in there to disable it for those occasions.
Which for me is every day as I've been slowly moving into a new place.

Wow, lot of f$cking preachers on this thread. Land of the free, if the dude doesn't want to wear a seatbelt, that's between him, his family and his insurance company.
Flipside: when was the last time you saw a race car driver not strap in? I'm an F1 nut, and those guys routinely walk away from big crashes. No way I'm bucking around without a belt on. But if that's you're thing, you shouldn't be bitched at for not doing it. Too many damn people want to tell you how to live now days. Dayum. |

I think that this thread has got a bit out of hand... I always wear the seatbelt, but remove it when I'm aproaching my driveway. If I stop at the bottom of the driveway to get the mail, the thing is going off all the way up the driveway and it IS ANNOYING. I wish I could pull a fuse or something...

Precisely. If I have a front end crash in the 100 yards from my barn to my house and get ejected and die then indeed it was my time to go WTF.

I've posted this before, but in my car, the seatbelt warning chimes twice, then stops whether the belt is buckled or not. The icon on the dash remains lit until I buckle up.
In other words, I can drive off and no annoying chime, just the icon on the dash. Not that I do that very often, but still, it's nice. Did I get a EU seatbelt program or something? Clearly the seatbelt sensor works, it's just designed to chime only twice. The odd thing is, if a passenger gets in and doesn't buckle his belt, the chime WILL NOT SHUT UP until he buckles. I assume this is what happens to the rest of you on the driver's side. If that is the case, then holy crap, am I glad my car is the way it is! And I'm afraid to ever get my software updated as I may lose this unique "feature"! Also, the fact that my car does it, and does it elegantly (not looking like it's some sort of bug or malfunctioning sensor) suggests that there must be some sort of setting to switch it this way. If someone could figure it out, it is a much cleaner solution than cutting off another belt or clipping a wire to disable the sensor or something.
