I always thought I would eventually own a Volvo. Then I rented one a couple of years ago. One word that aptly describes it is "yuck."

thats not completly true. Go drive a S60 R with a manny tranny... thats a pretty quick car. The turbo makes it easy to rip a ton of hp out of that engine really easily too. I read in auto-week that the volvo racing team gets 550 hp+ out of an essentially stock s60R engine. i have an unfair opinon though cuz im really a big fan of that car and planned to get one until i decided to hop back on to the bmw bandwagon.

it's funny how people don't like a car because of its brand. I'm sure lots of responses will be different if you slap a BMW badge on that exact same car.
I'm not defending Volvo but you guys haven't even seen or sat in that car yet. You never know if they actually learned lessons from before and fixed every problem in the new car. Most people that thinks Volvos are the safest and are boxy should test drive one today. It's not the best car but it's definitely worth it at its prices. Don't be ignorant. btw...i'd trade my e90 sport seats for S60 sport seats any day. It not comfortable for a long drive. I used to be able to drive from NY to Michigan for 8 hrs non-stop in my S60 when I was a sophmore in college....now I can't even drive 2 hrs and I'm still in the same university (so definitely not the aging thing )

Anyway, don't be defensive. My last car was an S70 (I'm still trying to sell it actually). I really liked it. You can't beat the Volvo seats. |

I see you're from Montreal. Check out the "Official Montreal" thread in the regional section. I think some of the Montreal area peeps are going to do the BMW driver training in the spring. You should come even if you don't have your bimmer yet. |
