Gray poplar looks fine and with that leather color it looks great. Brown wood looks very odd to me in any modern sporty car.

I don't particularly care for it either. Just my opinion as well.

The problem with these pictures is you can't see the depth of the trim. It's sorta sparkly inside like a dark grey grinder wheel or something. It's defiantly not just Shiny Black. when I ordered my car I lamented the lack of straight silver or brushed aluminum trim, but my CA, our very own dbtheo, told me not to worry, it would look cool when I got it, and he was right. It was cool, and not what I expected from the website or pictures.

I think Piano Black is the just solid black black isn't it? I've only seen it in pictures.

I think so. It's a deeper, imho richer black. Think a polished Steinway grand piano. As you say, the high gloss black is not just black. It has flakes or sparkles of other colors in it. You can see these a little better in the below pic. Sorry about the size. Didn't have time to reduce it.

Thanks 2012_135i, those are what I was looking for. The close up shows the flake. Does the handle feel like plastic, wood, or something else? Hoping it feels substantial.

Those flakes are hardly noticeable given that your car is generally not lit up like that. I don't even notice them except when I'm cleaning them. And only on the dash trim, really, since there's more sunlight on that piece. The handles feel very solid, though - not cheap and flimsy. They're not the best design for opening/closing the door (especially when the car is leaning to one side parked on a hill or some such), but you get over it cause they look good.

I would swap my gloss black for your aluminium in a heartbeat. Let me know if you want to do a trade. Mine are all in prestine condition

Hey guys, just wondering what are your techniques for cleaning the black trim? I find the wipes I use don't dry particularly well.

Hey now, This is one grandpa ( two grand sons, two granddaughters in Australia ) who drives a crimson red 128 with sport package. Traded in a Mini Cooper S with JCW tune to get it. Before that years of riding high performance motorcycles (not HDs). Just because you get older doesn't mean you have to get old. My wife has instructions that if she ever sees me start admiring toyotas she's to shoot me.

Hard to tell. Your pics aren't that close up to the dash.

I installed the high gloss black interior trim this weekend...I got it from Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o01_s00_i00

Probably took about 2hrs and there is definitely a learning curve. Once you figure out the pull and stretch method it goes pretty quick(pull taut length wise and then stretch laterally). I ordered more of the stuff because I want to go back and do my dash piece again (and I ordered the utility box, I want to install that too). As another poster mentioned (in this thread, I think) 1ft x 5ft is just enough with a little extra do your interior and if you are like me, be prepared to mess your first couple attempts up.

Looks good though, maybe I'll take a pic or two at lunch.

Just want to say that if a person with no arts and craft ability, like me can do this...than anyone can.

Looking forward to the photos of your wrap job.

By the way, what's a utility box? Got a part number and pic?

IMO, cutting down hardwoods to make parts for cars is not a good idea. If the wood goes into a piece of fine furniture that item will be around for decades. Most cars are scrap within 14 years. IMO, that is wasteful. I would rather see materials like aluminum, carbon fiber or interesting finishes on man made materials used.

My pics are from my phone(not high quality)...and I didn't bother doing the ashtray(just laid some scrap over it but didn't doing any edging) since I am going to get rid of it, also the dash piece needs to be redone because of a few bubbles but IMHO...it looks way fucking better than the poo poo wood.

Checkout this thread for info on the utility box again, just my opinion again but I think it's a huge upgrade that POS ashtray.

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=619633

I'll post more pics when I finish for real...for real. Also I was thinking of putting vinyl over the silver steering wheel trim, thoughts?

I actually want the ashtray. I'm not a smoker, but like the closed lid. Just gives a cleaner look to the console in my opinion.

Yea, it's definitely an annoyance to me. The lid is sort of finicky opening and closing and my iphone doesn't really fit in there at all. Looking forward to throwing it in the box with all my other stock parts.
