Just curious, how does the curve of the knob feel in your hand? I somewhat prefer the 'shoulder' lines on the back side of the knob. If they made the E90 Msport knob in a non-perforated leather, I would probably go with that...

Bavarian19 -

The MSport is NOT perforated leather. Its BMW black leather, and very nice. I have seen pictures of perforated leather, and to be honest, was expecting to get mine with the perforared leather...I was pleasantly surprised. (see pictures).

The feel is quite different than the stock (long and sloppy vs firm and short).

Black325i> MSport knob on E90 M package has perforated leather... The knob installed here, is the last E46 M short knob that came in the last years of production of M package (Earlier years, had a longer knob with M logo as well). So that's actually the old style E46 M knob and not the new one coming with E90 M package.

Really ? I though the E46 knobs were threaded. This one is a pull off / pop on style. When I ordered it, it was under an E90 part number. (25 11 7 896 886). You could be right that the current M package would have something different...

Either way, I think this looks, and feels better than something perforated. Just my opinion.

Nice. I see, perforated leather on the sports steering wheel, perforated leather on the shift knob. That works. Thanks for helping to clarify.

Either option much better than stock !

Not sure about threaded vs pull/pop style... But in terms of look this is identical to the M shift knob on E46... Here is a pic 3 years old of an E46 coupe with M package...

Yep either way, it is better than the crappy long plastic thing which comes standard ! Leather gives much better feel, and shorter is is great

Black 325i, do you have a Part Number for that knob? I tried ordering mine today, and the wrong knob came in...

I was kinda thinking that too, but the more I thought about it, It is an M-Sport shifter. If you took a stock shifter and put some kinda M badge on it, it would be stupid. Since it's an authentic M-sport part it seems the M badge is the only thing appropriate for it?
