Wow, a one-day turnaround? They must work 24-hours a day to prep the cars and ship them!
Post some pictures when you get it! Quote:

The latest...and I suspect the last update we'll get from the DJ for 3-4 days (oh me is not quite here...I was still zoomed in on NY Harbor...more updates then?)! What will we do for entertainment until she arrives in SC?

OK, I'll stop doing this but here's my last AIS image. She's home free! (now to summon the sea-gods and ask for a nice North wind )

Gentlemen, Im supprised you guys cant find Osama,, as good as you are at tracking ships and Bimmers.. For what it may be worth, I seem to be the closest person on the DJ to Charleston. Social Circle is a quaint little burb on the east side of metro Atlanta. My car is going to Athens BMW (Home of the Dawgs!!!) to be picked up. Once you guys confirm the DJs arrival in Charleston how fast mine gets through VPC may give some indication of speed through the center. Im the closest geographically anyway.. Thanks again for all you are doing...

Great posts Shipmates, finding it hard to keep up with you guys
mandrimac: Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing pictures of your Barrique red 325i Ok I estimate out last leg to be about 755 miles (using various waypoints) or a total estimated sailing time of 37.8 hours. Basing etd on Shipmate Fletcher's AIS image (when the D J was starting to move), I would estimate that as of this morning (02/28) 07:30 the D J is about 36% of her way home Woo Hoo! So far I have an estimate eta of 03/01 04:00 ... again weather and traffic permitting.

Well, it's prolly gonna be pretty quiet around here until the DJ gets closer to SC. At least I will be able to catch up on my work from yesterday.

shipmate b311lee: My CA told me about 10 days ... keep in mind I had cancelled my PCD arraangements mid-voyage so the car has to be trucked back up to DC after unloading/processing ... well, the truth of the matter is and eventhough DC cars are ex-NY, for the sake of all the fine shipmates here, I told them to let the car ride it out until Charleston ... and that's just the kind of shipmate I am
shipmate Fletcher: My rough estimate has a pre-dawn arrival (give or take) ... either way you cut it, the D J would arrive at the very beginning of a (hopefully) efficient unloading/VPC processing day!! Newsflash ... as of 14:30EST 02/28 the Don Juan should've crossed the half-way mark home!! ... She's coming home, boys!!

Just curious...but how does one get assigned a "rank" as I see is the case with so many (right under your username)? I haven't any, and in place of that is the saying my father used to drill into my head when I was a boy. Now I use it on my son in a mild form of revenge...but only because it makes sense, and I get to preface it with "your grandfather used to tell me...", so he still gets the blame!

Mr. Fletcher: The rank corresponds to the monitored sanity/obssesive compulsion level ...
Seriously...when you set a custom user title, that goes up in place of the rank (which is tied in to the frequency of posts) So we are just about to wind down the voyage ... any ideas for future thread topics? Looking forward to pictures of our shipmates' cars, hope they remeber... By the way have you ever attended any of the BMW Ultimate Driving Experience events and/or Susan G Komen Drives. My dealer is having one on the 03/21, just booked myself a drive in a 650Cic and a Z4 3.0is. You should check it out. Have you been to any ride and drive events??

Ok the Don Juan finally showed up on the Port of Charleston shipping schedule !! ... She is expected in Berth 3 and it looks like she's be unloading and loading (Z4s and X5s back)
I am expecting the timing of our beloved Don Juan's arrival and scheduling of work to mirror W W L's last arrival i.e. the Freedom which arrived on 02/28/06 at 04:35 EST. Unloading/loading work was started soon after at 07:00 EST ...

Although it has been said (and agreed wholeheartedly) that we (the shipmates) have had fun tracking the Don Juan...ever wondered how our babies endured the ride??:
I found some (dated) pictures at this site http://www.offworld.com/e46/images.html, but I'll post a few choice ones for the benefit of our shipmates. Our cars would've been securely strapped to the deck (came in mighty handy when the D J went through that tropical wave halfway across the Atlantic ). Shipping blocks would've been used to prevent suspension compression as they were strapped tightly down. Notice how tight the cars are packed (cozy and intimate). This is one of the many signs posted on the cargo decks of the ship to remind the crew and longshoremen to be careful around the cars. The warning: "Be Careful not to cause handprint damage" is rather amusing
